Not owned an Awfla yet but have been considering gambling my money on one.
People I have talked to ALL have had problems with the dealers.
Is there a way that we can create a list of decent servicing agents on this website so the cars can be looked after rather than systematically dismantled.

I once had a Vauxhall, an appalling car when it came from the factory but after 3 months of continual dealer visits that vehicle was in an operational state - it appears that with Alfa it is the opposite way around - after 3 months they have knackered it.
The cars look fantastic, and encourage you to have so much naughty fun its unreal.
If only the honeymoon could last.....

Splendid cars ALFAs - I had 2 x 164 V6 Lussos both from new, fantastic engines. Got to 132,000 miles on the second one, no probelms other than a clutch at 90k and a few tyres! and the clutch was probabaly due to towing my glider around with it. Wife now drives a 2.0 Spider and loves it. Rich...

I drive an Alfa 156 2.0 TS company car and have covered 48,000 miles since new, only trouble so far was a faulty belt tensioner on the counter rotating balancing shafts. The car is contract hired and the Lessor company has stated that they have had 10 engine failures on 156's, but in every case the engines had been run dry of oil. I check the oil weekly and always top up to maximum mark. Overall I really rate the car and it provides much needed driver enjoyment which is very rare in modern saloons.

From my (& my girlf's) experience, and that of others here, I'd take an educated guess that this would be a VERY short list!

I drove a 164 3.0 Lusso for ~ 3.5 years and the only major problems I had with it were the aircon packing in (common problem after ~ 5 years I seem to remember and expensive to fix) resulting in some very cold winter drives, and occasional problems with the starter motor circuit.

Granted it smoked under hard accelerastion (which with me was often), but by the time it met the great scrap heap in the sky (it was a G-reg) I had arounf 130,000 miles on the clock, and it was still returning ~30 MPG on long journeys.

Oh and I don't think I've heard an engine that sounds as beautiful outide of certain Italian exotica.
