What's that you say MrsZ? You'll spend the requisite 3 hours queuing for beer for me?? you star

I'd need more than beer to cope with that tosser. A lot more

Edited to add, no queueing either

If anyone is going to the Concert at the weekend and they are parking in the carparks near to Codicote on the B656 (i think thats the number), then you had best approach through the country lanes and through the village of Whitwell.

Today at 2pm in the afternoon the road was stationary and that was about 6 miles from the Concert parking, and it stayed like that until about 8.30pm tonight.

Well worth considering a detour.....you have been warned!

they are still talking about it on sky news,it took the reporter 3 HOURS to get from the m25 to the knebworth junction......i bet everyone in the cue wished that wembley stadium hadnt been knocked down.

(yeah the traffic is crappy around wembley but not as bad as that!)

Still talking about it now! When you think about the problems Silverstone has had in the past with traffic you'd have thought that people would realise that getting 100,000 into an event needs lots of preparation.

Why in this country can we not organise traffic at any major event? It can't be rocket science. Mind you the attitude of the British driver to always change queue doesn't help.

Well you guys really are in for a treat if you're going today or tomorrow!

Traffic - well it took us 3hrs fro Aylesbury to the car park to get in at around 2pm, not too bad! But the A1(m) took some people 4hrs to go from j7->j8 - in short get there very early (in fact leave now!). Getting out well.... Finished at 11pm, got out of car park (we have about 500yrds to go from parked car to road) at about 2am, got home at 03:30. I'd bet there are still people in the car parks right now...

Support Bands :-
The Darkness - good stuff with obvious tallent
Kelly Osbourne - saw several people with blood coming from their ears, she truely is the worst singer this side of a Tokyo karaoke bar - avoid!!
Ash - good stuff if a little distant
Moby - bloody good stunning set

Mr Williams :-
Well his entrance is something special make sure you see that! To say he was on fire is an underestimate - simply pure entertainment at its best.
Quite a few times he just stopped, staring out into the crowd not nowing what to do next - he was obviously living his dream.
The music was fantasic - although be careful where you stand re the speakers as some of the speakers aren't synch'd correctly
He played a full set with one official encore and one where he wasn't allowed to leave.
Mrs tvrforever is in love with him all over again - and he had one girl from the audience on stage for one song. Another time he dedicated 'shes the one' to a couple at the front and gave her his jacket - corny but worked liked magic!
His on stange dancers were quite something as well - not sure if they'll do the full lesbian bit tonight for TV but you can hope Oh and there were quite a few women showing their 'assets' to us all

Say whatever you like but if we could we'd both be back there this evening.

errr - Leave now?

From Hitchen side it wasn't too bad - not sure what options you might have to get there?

Possibly it won't be quite so bad today as you won't have the Friday afternoon traffic. Also those going will have heard on the news about the problems and left early.

God. I'm too old for this shite.

It took us SEVEN hours to get from Basingstoke to Knebworth. Six hours drive time and an hour in Hatfield to have "lunch" at 4:00pm. We set off a bit before noon and arrived in the concert hall in time to see the end of Moby.

Now I don't like Moby much but, poor bugger, he was clearly hampered by sh*t sound which got miraculously better when RW came on.

We also spend from 11:30pm until 3:30am sleeping in the car. People did NOT appreciate it when they were told that even if you'd got to your car early you'd be waiting at least two hours to let the pedestrians get out of the grounds...I know it can't be easy dealing with that number of people but the result was sh*te and very frustrating. I got home at 5:30 this morning...

Like I say I am far too old for this crap and I suspect I'll enjoy the whole experience a great deal more tonight when I watch it on TV as at least I can for a piss when I want one and chug a cold beer at reasonable prices.

And perhaps I may even get to SEE the show. IMHO egos led to the biggest show ever at Knebworth and ... it is just too fcuking big. Anyone at the back simply could not see any of the performance AT ALL. It was only visible on the (excellent...at least) huge screens.

So why exactly did I spend fourteen hours in my car (some of them trying in vain to sleep) to watch a show on a TV in the damp when I could have simply stayed at home and watched it on TV.

Hmmmn.

All I can say is thank goodness Robbie Williams was utterly superb entertainment. Really, really good. Probably the best gig I have been to - and once upon a time I did a lot...because otherwise it would have been an irretrievably horrid experience.

Next time I'll go see him in the Albert Hall...much more civilised.

We didn't even get to see Robbie. We got to the venue at about 4pm, we left Basingstoke at 12.30 on Saturday.

We tried to get into the arena in time for Ash and I am not kidding you there was no space for sitting down whatsoever, people were setting up about 4ft from the beer and food stands, there were no walkways set out for you to go anywhere else so you couldn't even pick your way through to find any space, of which we could find none. It was very very hot and people were still pouring into the arena and there was no where to go.

I know people will say well its an outdoor concert you've got to expect it to be busy, but even Carzee and Mrs Carzee whos have been to quite a few music festivals said they had never seen anything like it. We ended up turning around and leaving as with 3 hours to go before Robbie came on it would have been a nightmare. Even if you had by some miracle found a space, trying to then get a drink or go to the loo was an impossibility. It is difficult to actually describe just how full it was.

God knows what would have happened if you were down the front of the arena and fainted or someone had a heart attack because there was no way any medic would get to you.

The muppets on the gate were not checking dates on tickets and we reckon people who didn't get to see him on Friday tried their luck on the Saturday. There was no way there were only 120,000 people there.

Myself and Mrs Carzee are particularly upset as the tickets were Christmas presents and we didn't even get to see him. What a waste of a 4 £40 tickets and a day to get there and see nothing. We left and got back to Basingstoke in time to see it on the TV. Not ideal but at least we saw the concert in the end with copius amounts of alcohol on hand.

Now follows numerous letter writing etc to try and get a refund on the tickets. May be impossible but we are going to give it a damn good try.

I hope people going today had better luck. The only good thing I can see about the day was that we managed to avoid all leaving disaster. Up to 4 hours to leave a venue FFS and only 2 exits. The reason, bloody pedestrians, instead of roping off a seperate area for them to walk the drivers have to wait until ALL the pedestrians have left the site first.

Gosh this must be the longest post I have ever done.

The muppets "organising" this event need to take full responsibility for the abject failure to do the job properly. They have bals every day

Hope you enjoyed another days drinking

Would you try to drive to Wembley stadium on cup final day?
Would you try to drive to Oxford street on the last shopping day before Xmas?
Would you try to drive to Bournemouth on the hottest day of the year?
Would you try to drive into your local town centre knowing the carnival was on?

I understand and feel sorry for you, but in this day and age and we are all guilty of it the car rules. You knew 125,000 people were to attend, they all had to get there somehow. You knew Knebworth was NOT a stadium or arena. Like I said I feel for you BUT why try to drive? I am sure you could, if you wanted to got the train?
I know public transport isn't the greastest but at least you would have seen the concert.
You moan about pedestrians, at least they saw the concert.

If that was aimed at my post, it would have made no difference whether we went in the car or not. The problem was too many people for the size of the venue.

It has never been a problem in the past. Knebworth has been used since the 1970's as the premiere venue for the largest concerts. Oasis,Queen and Led zep have all played there. I understand your views on the location but forward planning would have saved you a lot of aggro.

I know it has never been a problem in the past. No one has ever sold as many tickets as RW has done for this venue. We had no trouble getting to Knebworth by the car. We got in. We parked. The trouble, if you had read my post more thoroughly was the fact that there were too many people there. There was no room in the venue for even standing space, especially for waiting another 3 hours. Forward planning would not have made a blind bit of difference. We could have stayed if we wanted to, we could have stayed outside of the arena and just listened to him. But no we thought we would save all the hassle of being squished and having to wait up to four hours to leave the venue. As it is we got back home in time to watch it on the TV. Not what we had planned no.

The problem is the event organisers have fcuked up somewhere. You would not believe how many people were actually leaving before 7pm.

Concert was (OK) made so by RW's fantastic sense of fun and energy - not bad for a fat lad!
But the sound was a little off - he seemed to struggle to hit most high notes I thought but 2 1/2 hrs of singing can do that?
- think the whole thing might have been a bite a little too big to chew!

So sorry Mrs Fish

See him at an arena next?

Oasis sold less tickets, yes they sold only! 250,000 but for a 2 date concert. The only reason RW sold more is because it was a 3 date concert.
I have seen the pictures of Queen arriving by helicopter at Knebworth for the "A kind of magic" concert. I have also seen the pictures of RW arriving in a helicopter. Knebworth is liscensed to hold around 125,000 spectators, this is obviously endorsed by local H&S inspectors there is no reason why RWs concert should be any different. Unless you expected your own personal space with all facilities etc. FFS it was a rock concert NOT a night at the opera.

FFS you were not there. I know what to expect, and I am telling you some one fcuked up somewhere. Even the police and security said to us that they had not seen anything like it. The police that we did speak to had grave concerns for public safety so something went wrong somewhere.
