If that is true then I hope it comes back to bit McLarens arse.rj2k11 said:
There's only so much energy in 100Kgs of fuel and they're only allowed to recover a fixed amount of energy per lap, the differences in power available should be very similar by the end of 2015 into the 2016 season for all the teams.
There's no limit to the amount of energy that can be directly transferred from the MGU-H to the MGU-K without being stored though, so there is still quite a lot of potential for an advantage from a more effective turbo.fatboy69 said:
I still don't get the McLaren 'love' for Alonso.
Doesn't make sense too me. If it happens - one less McLaren fan here.
To loose JB is not good in my opinion.
I too hope that it bites McLaren on the arse if it happens.
Same here, always supported McLaren but they're making it really hard recently, Ferrari-esk.Doesn't make sense too me. If it happens - one less McLaren fan here.

To be frank I think a few people (I am among them) are less than enamoured with McLaren just because of how they are treating JB.
I think for me it is far worse because now it appears the car is getting punchy (well, in JB's hands) and able to do rather well. So having driven a dog for a year or two fighting for 8-12th, now the car is up at the front he gets kicked out!?!?

On the basis of recent history there's little to worry about - next season's new car will be a dog again I think for me it is far worse because now it appears the car is getting punchy (well, in JB's hands) and able to do rather well. Since everything is so regulated and controlled, I wonder if teams should be allowed a "post race breather, celebratory / comiseratory / chillout time" before having to pack up after a race?
I remember the race when they were all staying over for testing the next day, and thus not packing up, and it was so much more relaxed.

Ted just saying that McLaren are taking a B spec car to Abu Dhabi, probably only for test. Apparently the wind tunnel says its better than the existing car already.
Prodromou working his magic already ?
According to the boy Kravitz, yes it is his doing, and it's more 2015 spec than B spec; they will run it on Friday then decide on whether to race it.Prodromou working his magic already ?
I'm a tad sceptical that it will be 2015 spec, given how rabidly secretive the teams normally are about their new season cars. Or a McLaren playing a double bluff - who's going to look at our new car given our current one is such a dog...
the other thing is that when F1 cars are unveiled thats not what races, even pre season test cars aren't what turns up at the first race.
It must still be based on this years tub ? maybe they are making hybrid parts that fit this years tub but follow the concept for next year ? wings, sidepods etc ?
Will be interesting to see it. They are certainly making steps forwards.

I agree that what is unveiled at the factory/Barcelona [or Bahrain (ugh)] is not what turns up in Melbourne, but the basic concept is there. It must still be based on this years tub ? maybe they are making hybrid parts that fit this years tub but follow the concept for next year ? wings, sidepods etc ?

Like you, I am encouraged that McLaren do seem to be making steps forward in terms of competiveness. Although it is still sad that 4th place is seen as a "good result" for a team with McLaren's pedigree.

His decision to accept McLaren's overtures has, however, forced the team into making a difficult decision between Jenson Button and Kevin Magnussen for the seat alongside him.
The closeness of their performances this year has left the team unable to come to a swift conclusion about who should line up alongside Alonso.
Not really that close is it McLaren 106 vs 55 points? The closeness of their performances this year has left the team unable to come to a swift conclusion about who should line up alongside Alonso.

I would love to see Alonso and Button together in the same team with no clear No. 1, it could well be an eye opener.http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/116713

well, that will never happen.I've always thought it odd that someone who thinks so highly of their own abilities has to demand No. 1 status, Schumacher was another too which has always made me question his ability, as team mates were never allowed to challenge him.
I don't think jenson would want to drive for McLaren as a No. 2.
