It’s slowly morphing into Top Gear... pointless babble, silly ‘fillers’ & now Steve & Dave have become a ‘comedy act’.

Agree!Rock on 2024.
Jones has always had his own style, but its doing the characature thing now. I turned off when he started singing at the end.
Coulthard looks like his hearts not in so much these days. Only goes to a selection of the events. Something Jones has been doing a lot of late as well with the excellent Leigh Mackenzie stepping in. I'd be happy to see Jones go entirely in favour of Leigh, but I suspect she has other commitments.
Even DC driving the current RB19 seemed a bit dull as an item
I’m sure that if DC had binned it, we would have heard about it prior to the weekend.
SJ: “Please Christian, don’t tell us”...
CH: “Whoops, I think that I might just have spoilt it”.
Cue DC playing games & CH looking through his fingers...oooh, the tension was almost bearable.
And the finale.

By the way, it's Lee McKenzie. Jones has always had his own style, but its doing the characature thing now. I turned off when he started singing at the end.

Steve Jones never used to bother me but this year he has been getting on my nerves.

Coulthard and f1tv are quite the thing now. I suspect that 90% of his work is now for f1tv and that C4 recycle it. He must find jones an annoyance.
Jones just wants to be best friends with the good looking rich kids....Not forgetting the legendary Jones & Jacques handovers.
I Agree that DC & co seem to put up with SJ... but you can see poor Mark cringing.
But at least Jamie is gaining confidence in her analyst / pundit role & comes across well.
( Well connected).

Yes, Whisper TV.
I understand that Sky and CH4 have similar Sunday viewing figures, but different audiences.
Sky presumably attracts the all-day viewers who want live coverage, and more depth and technical detail.
CH4 provides a more condensed broadcast for viewers who want a brief lead up, key moments and a bit of after race chat.
Putting mainstream presenters, such as Steve Jones or Jake Humphrey or Vernon Kay, in the lead anchor roles, is presumably to have an average enthusiast centre stage.
Obviously they need experienced F1 drivers for credibility, and current young drivers, such as Chadwick, to relate to the youth and/or female demographic.
Agree though, the season finale ‘sing-song’, at the end of last night’s show, was uncomfortably viewing.

Sky Showcase often have the Qualifying in full a few hours after live transmission. And then a few hours after the race have an hour highlights. The race highlights are literally about 90 second intro then lights out. The race. Then interviews with top 3, shoe the standings and that's it!I understand that Sky and CH4 have similar Sunday viewing figures, but different audiences.

I've not missed an F1 race in decades. But even I cant get past the £40 a month Virgin want to add SkyF1HD to my package. Thats near on 40% of what I pay now! Its not that its eat or F1, but its a mental block. If Ch4 stopped then I'd do it. But as it stands...

Coulthard is co-founder and co-owner of the production company that makes the show for C4, so I'm sure he is just fine with Steve Jones, otherwise he wouldn't be there.
DC and Jones are mates away from the show. So I don't see SJ leaving anytime soon. He is annoying, at best (:

This thread needs an update every weekend for those of us on highlights to let us know if it’s worth watching or not.
It’s also still really annoying that the C4 on-demand service doesn’t let you watch the channel ‘live’. First world problems and all that.
I'm currently watching it live on demand... It’s also still really annoying that the C4 on-demand service doesn’t let you watch the channel ‘live’. First world problems and all that.
