Load of Rubbish - I can't believe anyone would actually waste valuable drinking time putting that together!Probably all over for anyone trying to get into F1, now that Marussia have joined Caterham in administration, unless you're a Red Bull Junior, of course.

I found it quite funny, but then I have been about them a bit so maybe understand. Probably all over for anyone trying to get into F1, now that Marussia have joined Caterham in administration, unless you're a Red Bull Junior, of course.
And btw I have massive respect for what jp has done turning some quite frankly st circuits into some of the best in the country.

Back in the day, Cadwell wasn't the most popular place, for cars, and I haven't been there for years so don't know how it is these days but BH, Oulton and Snet were fine.
The facilities are better these days but there has been a high price to pay for that. For the competitors, quite literally.

It's taken him 4 seasons and he's 23; taken too long, he's too old.
The F1 teams are really looking for drivers who make a BIG impact in Year 1 (even if they don't win the title outright) of the junior formulae rather than someone who's honed their skills over a much longer period.
I think he's got zero chance, though it would be nice to be wrong.
Marcus Ericsson, same age, did four seasons in GP2 without winning the title, sizeable budget took him into F1 with Caterham, now signed by Sauber for 2015.The F1 teams are really looking for drivers who make a BIG impact in Year 1 (even if they don't win the title outright) of the junior formulae rather than someone who's honed their skills over a much longer period.

If Palmer had a half-decent budget I am sure he would have half a chance of getting a seat, or would have had before four seats disappeared last week.

So, Felipe Nasr uses his substantial Brazilian state bank funding to buy a seat at Sauber. This is a guy who crumbles under pressure and bleats about it being unfair when he gets overtaken after leaving the door wide open, several times. Oh, and he DIDN'T win the GP2 Series .........

I think he carries a few skeletons around. A friend's son was competing in and around Formula Palmer Audi at the same time as Palmer. FPA was billed as an equitable Formula and at the end of each meeting, all cars would be taken back to the same factory......except JPs. When others complained to the FIA, JPs car was then sent back to the same factory with the others but he then mysteriously stopped winning races and scoring pole positions.
I don't doubt the lad has talent - in fact, he clearly has. But I do wonder if things like this play on the minds of the F1 teams when selecting drivers.
I thought of your post after Dr Palmer mentioned how much store he placed on car setup when he was a driver in the Motor Sport magazine podcast:I don't doubt the lad has talent - in fact, he clearly has. But I do wonder if things like this play on the minds of the F1 teams when selecting drivers.

Good to hear he's got a third driver role which will hopefully lead to a race seat next year should Grosjean get a better offer or Maldonado losses his backing. Failing that, depending on how Button does against Alonso this year we could see just one Brit on the grid next year which would be a real shame.

I think JB and Alonso will work very well together. Let's hope the Honda power unit does too!FourWheelDrift said:
It didn't hurt Romain Grosjean though.
He had a pretty good in though - made sense for Droopy to slot in his own driver as soon as it was possible. Normally Lotus will have 4 or 5 test drivers. They get to do F1 demonstrations etc though JP jnr has been given some Friday drives I think ?

Meanwhile, Bach (Ralf Bach, who writes for Sport Bild and TZ Munchen) also claimed that Pastor Maldonado's place at Lotus is in doubt, as his and the Enstone team's major Venezuelan backer, the state-owned PDVSA, is in crisis over the dramatic fall in oil prices.
He wrote: "Bernie Ecclestone is apparently looking for a buyer for Lotus, because he wants to get rid of the uncomfortable Gerard Lopez.
"He has been trying for some time but so far has found no one."

Wife and I thought he was a bit bigheaded when sky interviewed him. Quite supercilious in fact.
I saw the same interview. Didn't warm to him at all. Like many, not a fan of his father either. Seems to be a family trait.MSV may have stuck silver cladding on the complex at Brands, but it didn't do anything for the frankly st access to the circuit. After spending 4 hours trying to get out after a BSB round many years ago. I'll never return to that place.
