So?

There is life outside of motorsport as well.... stop running away from my dream job ya dhead!!
My point is, if he was a genuinely good driver you'd either try to defend the WDC or move to try to conquer another motorsport. Not live like 70 year old when you're just 31.........
People have different takes on life man. He wants to remain healthy and enjoy his family and why not?

*BREAKING NEWS*

Nico has revealed he retired to concentrate on music and release a rap album next year.

When questioned on why, he said 'After beating Hamilton at F1, I wanted another challenge. Knowing Lewis has a passion for music, I want to beat him to the number 1 music chart spot.'
He sure knows how to pick careers he's s××t at lol
But still succeeds in them. smile
The Honey G of F1.
Who?
Ok. Who?
What do you do with your time if you don't know Honey G. Possibly the worst contestant of X factor ever

RIGHT....FOR CLARITY AND TO STOP BELL ENDS MIS QUOTING THINGS AND SUCKERS BEING SUCKERED INTO IT HERES THE FULL INTERVIEW

But Hamilton, who spoke in Vienna after Rosberg's announcement, said he had seen it coming.

"The sport will miss him and I'm sure it was a surprise for many people," he said. "I'm probably one of the only people it was not a surprise to, but that's because I have known him for a long, long time. But this is motor racing."

Hamilton and Rosberg started karting together in their early teens and have followed similar career trajectories before being matched as teammates in F1 at Mercedes in 2013.

Asked if he would miss the rivalry, Hamilton added: "Well, this is the first time he has won in 18 years, hence why it's not a surprise that he decided to stop. But also he's got a family to focus on and probably wants to have more children and Formula One takes up so much of your time.

"In terms of missing the rivalry, of course [I will]. We started out when we were 13 and we would always talk about being champions and when I joined this team Nico was there -- again which was something we talked about when we were kids. It's definitely going to be very strange and for sure I will be sad not to have him in the team next year."

Hamilton had talked about his desire to beat Rosberg in a straight fight next year, but the announcement means he will now be paired with a new teammate.

"Of course it is a shame that he won't allow me to fight it to take it back, but that was his choice and I respect his decision -- go out on top while you can. I have a different viewpoint. I won the championship the last two years and I gave an opportunity each year to have another shot for someone.

"That is genuinely how I am and I consistently believe in my ability and what I can do each year. Even if I was to win again most likely I'd like to get another opportunity. I like being challenged by different competitors, but again we have been racing for 18 years so it's not the worst scenario."
As others have said, Hamilton showing his class.

Those suggesting he is a bit wet...

Got kids? Spent a huge portion of the year away from them?
Actually yes and not for a F1 wage packet either....

Nice one Nico, thanks for the entertainment, have a good life with the wife and kids.

Could you imagine Lewis' reaction to that?

Oh yes, Max looks like he has had an accident in that pic.

Misquote?? In the very same article that you link to, the same comment appears from Hamilton!

Maybe it is important to read everything..
its taken out of context when read on its own.....you read the whole article without bias and it doesn't sound bad
It also sounds to me that 18 years ago when they were juniors they talked about winning the F1 title and Rosberg probably said "when I do I'll retire" or words similar to that, so it comes as no surprise to Lewis he has done that and this is the first time Nico has won the F1 title in the last 18 years.
Really? You remember details of conversations from 18 years ago? Wow.

Man up, guys, it was cheap shot to remind the world that Hamilton is the big cheese.
Exactement mon ami!! smile

But Mercedes better get a good stock of spare parts in... Mind you, it will ensure fewer Mercedes 1-2s

Well then the grid next year is well and truly shaken up! If (as it appears) he is doing this to spend more time with his family then fair play. I'm a Hamilton supporter but was willing Nico to win the title as I felt he deserved it more than Lewis (and it stopped Lewis 'doing a Vettel' and getting back to back to back titles.

I hope that Mercedes don't go for an experienced driver (Alonso etc) and instead promote from within/lower catagories or take Wehrlein on. Would be interesting if Lewis gets beaten by his younger teammate Max Verstappen style

I don't see either of the Red Bull drivers wanting to move to merc, reckon the bull will be handy next year. Doubt Mclaren would let Alonso go, same for Vettel and Ferrari. Sainz however might feel theres no space at Red Bull and could do with a move to a top team!

No. Appreciative of Rosbergs tenacity over the years, however, haters got to hate.

Did you hear Hamilton's round up of 2016 earlier this week (even though it was politically neutral) by any chance Derek....
