There is no 'reasonableness' test in court for breach of confidence.

To be fair if he is wanting an anti-modern workplace then no doubt maranello can supply that!

That's very true!

And despite the media workload and intrusion at Fezza being quite high, there's no team that courts press attention as much as RBR.

He's moving away from the F1 team early next year and leaving RB completely once the RB17 track car program is completed. That'll keep him busy until 2026 then. If part of his reason for leaving is not liking how F1 is going I think he may well opt for retirement. He's made all the money, and certainly has nothing else to prove in F1.

I read the announcement as - leaves F1 now, develops the track car - leaves entirely Q1 2025…..

To me that seems like the statement of a man who is leaving F1, not moving teams.

Although this has been rumbling on and expected, still a surprise to see him off from Red Bull. Some serious questions how they’ve lost this asset.

Personally, I hope Ferrari entice him.

Taken literally it also 'sounds like' he's just departing to find new challenges and everything is tickity boo at the team and he and Horner only have lovely things to say about each other. Which we know is bks, so I wouldn't read anything much into the official RBR statements on the matter, in any regard.

Assuming he does remain in the sport, I think we'll learn where he's moving to and when soon enough - and his interim work on completing the RB17 is a side issue really, he doesn't need to be 'in' the RBR F1 team to complete that, it's a commercial project.

Hadn't realised Eddie Jordan was his manager. That explains the source for the Autosport/Motorsport/BBC articles yesterday.

Indeed, it's a Red Bull PR release. Personally I hope to see him at Ferrari in time to create a car for 2026 & 27.

Of course they are only going to say nice things about each other in this press release. They're hardly going to say he's leaving because of Horner's sticky fingers, or anything else that makes the team or those remaining in it look bad in any way.

Exactly, so not much point reading anything into any part of that statement, it's just PR fluff.

On the ‘he may retire’ view. I can’t see why he’d negotiate to leave his contract this early if that were the case. It only makes sense to me that he wants out ahead of the change in regs for 2026 and this lets him get his feet under the table at the new place in advance of that.

At the end of his statement he thanks his “close friend and manager Eddie Jordan”.

Is that ex-team owner Eddie Jordan? I must admit, I'm surprised to learn that he's Newey's manager.

Indeed very cleverly worded to make it seem like he is going to be there longer than he is.

Ferrari F1 team principal Fred Vasseur has reportedly made a move to try and sign Adrian Newey from Red Bull.

Vasseur has started negotiations with Newey after delaying travelling to this weekend’s Miami Grand Prix in order to meet with the legendary car designer in London, according to Italy’s Gazzetta dello Sport.
