Herbert did not mention skin colour, just nationality - probably information gleaned from country identifiers such as flags or t-shirt design or actually chatting with them. About ten percent of Jamaicans are not black. To automatically assume that every Jamaican is black is racist.
Next they will be stating Vettel is racist for hitting Hamilton in the race.

I'm afraid PH is 70% old boys club... you get used to it... and even manage a few giggles at their expense.
So unless you support Hamilton you are old. biggrin

I'm firmly in the old bloke category yet you can see from my posts on this thread and others that I've been defending Hamilton against all comers.

But as I'm old I must be racist apparently.

I don't know what to think - please help me out, oh great smug ones !! eek
They will never explain.

All they do is attack.

Very sad that they allow their hatred to cloud their judgement.

Agree with the above.

He's like Hunt, we need more like that, and less robots.
I can't believe anyone would think Lewis is like Hunt.

Hunt had a totally different attitude and outlook.

You can totally understand drivers being downhearted or upset if they don't do well in a GP.

Perhaps it is just the way Hamilton come across.

He seems out of sorts again this weekend which is no doubt down to the penalty he received for the gearbox change.

I would certainly expect that sponsor appearances are suchlike are indeed agreed upon months ahead of time. The short break Lewis is currently enjoying, likewise.

He has about 10 times the pressure on him that any other driver has this weekend. Anyone who has been to Silverstone in the Hamilton era will understand what I mean. The place is ALL about Lewis and the expectation immense. It must be pretty draining having that kind of responsibility to deliver.

Having an issue with him not being at a plod around in London before it starts seems seriously out of order.

What rubbish. Frankly it doesn't matter to most people what he does but please leave this sort of claptrap out of it.

This thread is funny really. A load of old crocks who have nothing better to do but rush to the internet and post "See! he's a <insert insult here>" as soon as the bloke as much as farts.

Says more about them than it does him and whatever he's done or not done.

Yes, maybe he should have been there, but in all honesty the only thing he missed was going up on stage when they introduced all the drivers. Not exactly the end of the world is it.
Even when you know people are right about Lewis deciding NOT to appear you just go on the attack.

I am sure if Lewis was leading the Championship he would have been there today.

What do you disagree with? Do you think he does not have more pressure than the others at Silverstone, with 120,000 people there hoping and expecting he will win? I am little confused about why you seem so hostile here if you think 'it doesn't matter to most people'. It seems to matter very much to you.
Mansell and Damon stated it gave them a huge boost.

If you talk to any other sportsman they all agree having home support makes a huge difference.

Why do home teams in football for instance play better and win more games at home?

Just another excuse for your idols terrible attitude.

When everything is going great he is all smiles and the "peoples Champion" but when it's not his dummy gets spat out.

When you see all the drivers there his non appearance is a PR disaster.

His name was mentioned and he was booed which was confirmed by my cousins husband who was in attendance.

Said is was a great attracting especially seeing so many young fans. biggrin

Or did he just want to enjoy the company of fit women & friends before rolling into Silverstone tomorrow ready for the pressure cooker that is the BGP.
I think there is a lot going on behind the scenes.

He took off instead of attending.

That is a massive mistake and a PR disaster for Lewis.

Arguably more pressure on Vettel given recent events.
Agreed. That must have taken some balls to turn up after what he did.
I'm not a LH fan, but that was a big mistake not attending yesterday. Even Kimi was there !
Anyone know if the Sky show is being repeated anytime ? I can't find anything on the planner and there's only short clips on the F1 website.

Either good timing from The Independent, or very poor timing from LH..
I'm local-ish to where JB comes from, but you do see him on the local news occasionally doing charity stuff and there is even a road and a pub named after him in Frome. Has LH got the same in Stevenage I wonder ?

I see a lot of 12 year olds hanging around the old F1 cars at Goodwood. Lots of older people like me in that crowd too.
Now they are attacking non fans with ageism.

Lewis is 32 years of age so no doubt their idol is "too old"

Lewis was in a one horse race today. Did a great job. Can't disagree with his performance.

Bottas also was great. He might just upset Hamilton and Vettel yet.

Would love to see Bottas as Champion biggrin
