Pastor in the naughty corner?
“As you will know if you were watching first practice, Pastor Maldonado had a crash. I know, what a surprise.
"Anyway, the car was quite badly damaged in the off, in which he collided with the wall having lost control on the exit of Malmedy. The right-hand side was quite badly damaged and consequently was not ready for the start of the session.
"Team-mate Romain Grosjean, meanwhile, is running a new front wing design on his car. There is only one. Maldonado was not allowed to use it in the morning.”

Let's see how much work Honda have done during the break.
Not enough, it would seem. And we are yet to learn about reliability.Vaud said:
Don't think we know enough yet. Don't forget that they are changing this engine after P2. If you want an engine to "bank" for later in the year, wouldn't you run it at reduced power?
I think they're taking these engines back for analysis to see if the combustion updates are working as expected, so they may not be running the ERS/MGUK much today. I doubt we'll see full power until P3 tommorow, and only then if they don't see any issues from today's data.PhillipM said:

I would just turn it up, nothing to lose, just take the same grid penelty every race and start with a new engine each time..
Everything to lose today - if you blow it up you can't take it back and check that your simulation and dyno testing is actually corroborating with what's seen on track.Tommorow, by all means, crank the new motors open for qualifying and go.

But they needed to understand what the tyre performance was today, if they expect to have the same engine power as Ferrari on Sunday.Tommorow, by all means, crank the new motors open for qualifying and go.
I don't see it happening. Mind you Manor have similar power to Ferrari and McLaren are comfortably ahead of them.
