His showing was decent this weekend, i havent said it wasnt, i still dont think it was brilliant (qualy aside) his team mate could run at the same pace after the Red flag and the car clearly worked very well here. Lets see how he goes the rest of the season, i'd like to see him back to 2018 spec in the RB next year giving it the big un up the inside of the race leader every weekend but i just dont see it at the moment. A man of his experience struggling to beat Yuki is not the mark of greatness....he needs to carry on improving rapidly to get into that RB
When was he ‘struggling to beat Yuki”

I’ll point out at this stage that, maybe excepting one-off drives, no F1 driver has ever beaten their team mate in every session.

Yuki was furious. Did they encourage him to keep making overtakes over the radio? Should have had more patience.

For a couple of hours there, Sargent had a 100% record over Albon.

First one I looked up was Senna over Andretti in 1993!

However, fair play to Michael, he was faster than Senna in Practice for Canada that year.

They both posted near identical times here - that's not one driver beating another, it's just a wipeout for the team. The delta was less than two hundredths of a second.. a breeze could cause that. You can't judge either driver on such a result.

Judgement is best reserved for when one driver makes it through to Q2/3 with a decent margin and the other does not.

Willing to bet in the race(s) this weekend, saving any third party factors, DR proves to be quickest and will place higher. I think he's got his eye in on the car now.

Needless to say neither driver will place very high, the cars' back to being practically useless on this circuit.

It’s very simple. He didn’t beat him, neither maxed the car. The driver is not making a difference. Ricardo clearly made a mistake on his second lap and said so in his interview

Tell me what exactly I don’t understand

On the evidence of that one session, it seems that Alonso is struggling to beat Stroll.

Thankfully we have a bigger sample size for both cases.

That aged badly

Dan said he made a mistake in Qualy yesterday and we saw it on the onboard

Today Yuki outqualified and outraced him scoring decent points.

Interesting circuit. Piastri was nowhere relative to Norris, for instance, whereas Stroll suddenly seems on a par with Alonso. And Perez suddenly looks like a decent number 2 again.

What, if anything, have we learned?
