Driving Test hijack
Discussion
A learner driver's test ended abruptly on Monday when two robbers hijacked his car.
The post office raiders dragged the 18-year-old from his Ford Fiesta and ordered the examiner out.
They had just stolen a cash box being delivered to the post office in Holland Road, Clacton-on-Sea, Essex. Police said the robbers had planned to escape by motorcycle, but a car had blocked them in.
Post office owner Stephen Moseley said: "He had just stopped to make a maneouvre when they opened the door and dragged him out."
"It hasn't been a good day for him at all"
Mr Moseley, who had followed the robbers on foot after tackling one, said the learner driver was "absolutely distraught" immediately after the incident.
But Mark Shadbolt, the owner of the Tendring School of Motoring, said: "The pupil seems OK. He's a good lad and he's fine.
The car was found 20 minutes later in an industrial estate and the stolen cash box was later found in a garden on Beford Road.
Police said they have arrested one man in connection with the incident.

But did he correctly put the handbrake on, put the vehicle into neutral and turn off the ignition? If not then he proberly failed
poor Sod - test cancelled and needs to re-book.
A couple of years ago I saw a learner driver taking his test have an accident 150 yards from the test centre, poor sod it wasnt his fault either, car was a write off.
I nearly ran over a cyclist on my test (not my fault he literally "jumped" out in front of me...one of those bmx's)
Still I didn't fail! Although when it came to my "question" time and the examiner asked me what the right hand lane on the motorway was for I replied...."going fast" He disagreed although I still maintain I was right

I didn't say that "I" would do that.......
Dont ask about the costs, the test is just a big DVLA/DSA money making joke.
Just a few more days...
*If the guy didnt pass, he will NOT recieve a free re-test, also, if there are waiting lists (5 months here) he will be put at the back of the queue, or have to ask for a cancellation.

Oh please tell me racegirl can drive, well she's took the Chimaera around Donington so I'm not expecting her to need too many lessons but I need to know how much the theory test and practical test cost
doh! that'll teach me for being impatient

plus license fees - both provisional and real
Also, if you want to tow anything, that'll be another test to pay for. The newer liscenses dont cover much anymore.
Btw Driving beforehand is often worse than being an inexperienced learner - I picked up too many bad habits which took a while to iron out, for example the "shuffle" steering. You also have to suffer awful learner cars, I honestly find dads Cerb easier to drive (sensibly) than a ing corsa - horrid thrashy gutless engines/ rolly chassis. Im sure lotus had something to do with the corsas handling, numerous lessons down the line im still clueless as to what they did other than laugh at it.

raceboy said: Cheers, so thats £57 + the instructors car hire for 2 hours then, don't think doing the test in the Chimaera would be a good idea
I'm letting her have £200 to sort it out, what sort of prices were those of you that have passed recently been paying for the instructors car/time?
I passed my test last Feb, and for an hours lesson with BSM it was £17.00
