Anyone else suffer the same thing day in day out??? Every single day there is an accident with a biker changing lanes, or the famous overheight lorry. Can take 1 hour and a half to do 10 miles up from Sidcup. What a God awful journey!!!

Tell me about it. Happened again today coming back from lemans.

Coming back from France, you really appreciate quite how shit the British roads are. Not enough investment and a lot of politicians assuming that if they don't put more roads in, we won't need more capacity.

Time for them to take their heads out their arses.

Every other Friday night I try to drive south thru the tunnel to get to me bird. For months they have been changing the light bulbs and dusting and Mr Sheening and causing huge bloody tailbacks or closing the tunnel altogether. Alternative route #1: A13 to Dartford crossing ... is dug up. Alternative route #2: Tower Bridge is unbelievably congested ... and the imobiliser decided to flake out and leave me stranded. Thanks to the bloke who helped me push the car off the road.

I used to ride through the Blackwall everyday for about 2 years - luckily they only closed the tunnel twice. The real problem I found was numpty car drivers not letting each other move lanes just before the tunnel - often seen them driving up the chevrons and forcing their way into the other lane of vehicles.

If you think that journey is bad - try the A20 through Lewisham. That is truely manic, even on a bike.

The big square roundabout-type thing before you get to Lewisham hospital is a corker...

Thats just up the road from where I work, one of the reasons I have a sensible car for work & the Griff for being silly. If I do have to drive the Tiv around here it can become a bit of a chore, I will stick with the auto/air con option for week days.

I used to have to drive from Blackheath to Canary Wharf via Blackwall, total distance about 5 miles, average time was about 45 minutes, although 1 hr 30mins wasnt unheard of. It really is a joke, and like you say the slightest incident causes a 3 mile tailback within minutes. The sooner they build another crossing the better. I now get the DLR from Lewisham, its a nice relaxing 30 minute journey door-to-door
