Sorry for the haste folks, seriously tempted by this car:

http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=2...

The thing is, is that I have a very particular specification in mind and can't figure out of this car has the 'Aero Lux Pack'. I know it included Memory seats - can't see buttons, electric folding mirrors - same again, can't see buttons and a few other extras.

Can any SAAB experts tell from the pictures available? I've spoken to the owner a few times and he doesn't seem to know as he's selling it on behalf of his grandparents. He keeps assuming and guessing, no good for me frown

Cheers

Sir. Very good to see someone who isn't a predictable "sheep" looking at something boring, overpriced, overadvertised, overrated, underengineered, and coming from Germany.

Good car Sir.

Thank you my good man thumbup

Wouldn't catch me in something of that ilk. Each to their own and all that but not for me.

Any Aero from 2005 should have memory driver's seat as standard.

Will happily be proved wrong but from my research they were standard in the pack from '02 - '03 then GM striped it back and offered then as part of the 'Aero Lux pack' which was an optional extra.

Looks good, I paid more for a lesser 9-3 TiD recently albeit from a dealer. I'm never too fussy about spec, personally low mileage, a stack of receipts or an honest, genuine seller hold more weight than in-car gadgets when buying used.

Possibly. I've got an '04 brochure and they're in that but I can't swear they didn't remove them for an 05 MY. The ones I have seen all have them though.

I'm pretty convinced that in the last few Saab years they just put random things on cars depending on what was lying around in the factory!

On a 9-5 Estate? I thought the 9-3 was the Vectra shared model?

9-5 shares some floorpan and other bits with the Mk 1 (95-02) Vectra. There isn't anywhere near as much GM in it though as the 02-11 9-3.

Normally true but I'm in a position where I can wait. I'd also rather not have the 'Nav so if this car doesn't have the 'Aero Lux' then I'd gladly go without it.

Yup, 9-3 was the Vectra. If I remember the 9-5 was the last of the proper SAABs and based on the 9000 which in turn was a shared platform with Alfa.

The 9-5 was GM based and not a Type 4 car like the 9000, Thema etc.

OP, try posting your question on UKSAABS, loads of knowledge on there.

97-09 9-5: based on 95-02 Vectra
900NG/9-3 Mk 1: Based on 88-95 Cavalier
02-11 9-3: Based on 02-09 Vectra
10-11 9-5: Based on Insignia

I think that's right anyway. smile

I think so, although I had the Calibra in mind rather than the Cavalier for the 900/9-3.

Sadly you can use add blocker to get rid of adverts but there's no datum77 block on the forum to stop posts from knobs. Every post he makes is quite rude and knocking people's choice of car.

The Saab 9 5 and Vectra were based on the Epsillon floorpan. Not really that the Saab was based on a Vectra. The 9 5 uses a stretched version of that base. The engine is a Saab engine as well not Vauxhall.
Yes there are some shared parts but the same is true of Aston/Ford and Rolls/BMW etc. They don't seem to get the same "its a Vectra really" usually from 9000 owners I notice as well.

I don't get the 'it's just a Vectra' jibes either, how many cars share at forms these days?

Anyway I had a 9-5 for 4 months (just an£800 snorter whilst my new car was built) and it was great, I'd have another without a doubt.

Mine was seriously comfy and just ate up the miles effortlessly, they are also huge and really practical, I loved it
