Shocking service and I will note this in all future dealings with this company.

Pretty shocking that they can't be arsed to let you know something like that. Did you take the rep name/date/time of your calls down? I do that every time now, just to make it nice and easy for customer service folks to dig out the calls when they're looking into these things.

I don't think I've ever been asked for a copy of my license just to take out a policy, but to cancel a policy without warning is just lunacy.
Mrs Fesuvious response in considerably restrained in my view!

That doesn't surprise me at all.

I know every company out there will always have negative opinions from people due to their own experiences but I've had one with them, and know others that have.

I'd avoid them at all costs.....

The tossers ought to be prosecuted for causing someone to drive without insurance.

I've had issues in the past with a similarly named company, that mean I won't be returning any business to them - not that they have been remotely competitive with any policy since so it's not a huge loss to me.

Dont forget that when she buys a new policy she will have to answer yes to the question of wether she has had insurance cancelled/declined/refused.

Then watch the price double.

I had this when I had a short ban. Rang up insurance and told them only for them to cancel my policy. Nice.

Peanalised for being honest. Makes you understand why people are dishonest.

Right, in which case - Il create a webpage dedicated to this and adjust the page titles and description accordingly.
I'd recommend awaiting your response from the ombudsman.

If you go ahead anyway write times, dates, facts only. Be objective. You start publishing slander you can damage your own credibility.

Aren't they a broker and not an insurer?

I used the same company when I first insured My Elise.

My NCB took a while to come through the post from my last insurer, so I got threats by letter of cancelling my insurance. When I called I was told it was ok and ignore it, but the next day I would get another threat, so I'd repeat the call. This went on for a few days, with me panicing about having an uninsured car, and having to try getting insurance with a recent cancellation frown

I rang my last insurance co, and they faxed it over, which fortunately stopped the threats.

The renewal saw a 50% increase in premium, but a promise to beat any other quote (why not give me the lower quote first.....thats why I went to a specialist broker!)

I renewed with a big high street insurer, and had no issues, and it was cheaper.

No doubt this thread will soon be gone.

If this thread gets deleted due to AF then that is just wrong.

I sympathise for OP's girlfriend. That is a nasty rotten trick.

I would ask for a copy of the tape where she informed them that the license would be delayed, and ask for a copy of their complaints procedure, with the intention of making a formal complaint.

As for the Customer Service letter, where they tell her that it's not their job to give options, then I guess they are right. But it's so typical of customer service in the UK. It's all about causing the least hassle and cost to the business, and not at all about providing any sort of service to the Customer.

Insurers seem to be getting paranoid these days. I sent some documents, but continued to receive threatening letters, including one by recorded delivery before policy cancellation.

I sorted it out by phone, but I was out when the recorded delivery was attempted and I was unable to collect it from the sorting office for another week. Recorded delivery is a menace in these circumstances. I guess it's better to avoid picking them up, so the sender can't rely on them when it comes to crunch time.

Donna has just said to me

'I know I'll not get my money back, but at least if other people are spared being treated like this it'll be something'

Thanks Adrian Flux,
I read the first letter differently, I read that as saying "if any claims were ongoing" no refund would be made and the remaining amount of premium would still be due. The wording my not be 100% clear in my own opinion.

I also understand the second letter saying "you needed to contact the company to make the changes". Also can you give more details on any other letters regarding cancelling etc, If you recieved any thing like this then did you ask about changing the policy etc?

(b.t.w i don't work for the said co..... but another insurer, so I'm keeping an open mind at the moment)

Insurers are the real law on our roads and have free reign to do whatever they want. You can cry all you want but they will always win.

Maybe so, all we can do to hit them is to try to get more industry regulation. They won't like that.

Good luck with this one OP, i remember having a quite similar issue with another company.

When i referred them to their recorded conversations, they said that they werent available & 'broken down' - ie we buggered up but you cant prove it. Luckily i always call people during the day, from our work number, which is always recorded laugh
