I've heard a lot of negatives about the new MX5's looks from friends and colleagues recently. I've seen a few now in different colours and I think it looks really good. Dare I say it, it's in the mould of a scaled down F-Type.

I'm sure it's a great drive and built well. What do people think on here? Purely interested because I thought I had fairly good taste.

I think the styling is a bit of a marmite thing - personally I think it's great, but equally I can see why people wouldn't like it.

As far as the drive etc goes I think it's great, shame they don't do any decent lease deals on them!

Them what like 'em love em. Them what don't really don't. I kinda prefer the looks and mid range punch of the FIAT 124.

I think it looks awkward around the front because there's so much metal over the front wheels and then it falls away so dramatically towards the very low nose. I think it would have looked more cohesive with slightly taller grill and front lights, something a bit more like the mk2's nose in proportions but with more angular details in keeping with the rest of the car.

Overall it's a decent effort given the limitations they have to work to in order to meet modern hardpoint clearance requirements without resorting to expensive (and heavy) pop-up bonnets. The looks certainly wouldn't put me off buying one.

I really like the look of the latest MX-5! The previous models weren't exactly ugly but I think the new one stands out in terms of styling where the previous models were quite 'safe'.

I'd say the styling is rather aggressive, which is in contrast to the Mk3, however I do think the newer one looks like a crushed down F-Type.

I still prefer the look of the Mk2.5.

I think the new one is the best looking yet. Was talking to some bloke down the road that works for Mazda or a Mazda dealer and does track day instruction and said it was the best one yet.

I think they look fantastic. One passed me yesterday on a country road and it looked very good in that situation. I would have one.

I do swing between thinking these tail light covers look cool... and then not cool. I can't decide.

Also if you are going to take photos of your new product, clean the lens first!

To be pedantic, that's dust on the sensor, not the lens.

It does appear that way. I'm used to triple sensor cameras where dust on the sensor affects only one channel so you get coloured dust.

It couldn't look worse than the mk3! I think it's a really sharp and fresh looking car, just what the MX5 needed after that ghastly NC model. The mk2 will always have the most classic, sexy look to my eyes.

I think they look excellent, both in open top and RF form.

Fantastic looking cars.

I think they look good, they needed to go modern this time round I think.

The 2.5 is the best classic roadster look

The NC is ah probably under styled but still works, its the one I own and I didnt expect to...

I passed one the other day, and remember thinking the rear 3/4 view was a bit of a mess!

Much prefer the looks of the Fiat, but much prefer the mechanical spec of the Mazda - a lose/lose for me!

Love the looks. Think it's nicer than the Fiat, and I pass both Mazda and Fiat dealerships on my daily commute.

I remember seeing the front when the first press shots came out and thinking not the best decision they've ever made.

But cars like this help share prices.

Have to admit I prefer the styling of the Fiat - looks more 'together' and less awkward (but only when the lower section of the grille/bumper isn't black). Those tail light covers are awful.

I think it looks great, particularly the 2.0 Sport in metallic red. In fact it's one of only about three new cars that I have any interest in owning at some point and the only car that might one day replace my MR2.
