RE: SOTW: Jaguar XJR (X300)
Discussion
BIG FAN!
I have a 2000 XJR, the proper V8 one and good points are it is ludicrously fast and wafting is amazing
Bad points are things can be sooooo expensive to run, its not even funny
Tyres can be £250 a corner, oil change alone is £270 and silly bits like a wing mirror can be £200! But for around 3k you get a Porsche chomping grandads car...

The X300's were blown straight 6, the X308's were V8 super.
Won't be too long until a 308 creeps down into this territory.
It already has!Won't be too long until a 308 creeps down into this territory.

I'm seriously tempted by one of these, but I'll have to wait for my E55 shed to die first!
I love the different opinions in this thread as well, the people who don't get "shedding" and will never take the risk, and those who love the challenge of shedding.
At £1000 something like this is a no brainer.
Worst case, it would break in to more than £1k, even if it was the most rusty car in the world!
Engine £500-1000
gearbox £100-300
Leather interior £100-300
Alloy wheels £50-250
Suspension/brakes £20-200
Lights £10-20 each
Shell weighed in £100-150
Cats recycled £50-100
It doesn't take long to get a good piece of your £1k investment back!

Get it in SOTW next week so I can vote for it in SOTY in December.
LOVE IT!!!
Where I am, that car would be three or four times the price, damn the UK and there cheap motoring (petrol prices excluded)! The I6 in these are amazing, most reliable motor Jaguar ever produced....why did it go so wrong with the early X308's?
As for the airbag light....would it not just make sense to get behind the cluster, snip the wires (or cut the tracks on the PCB) and take a feed from the ABS light? That way, its on with a turn of the key and off when your started?? Easy fix! Not sure why a car should fail its MOT if the airbag light is on, what would be the big deal that would make it un-roadworthy?

I'd love one!
It's the Daddy of big 'Old School' bruiser cruisers.
Forget your Mercs and BM's. A Jaaaaaaggggg is the only way to go!
WANT!
I wish I could get cheapo insurance on one My TVR is about 200 quid but one of these just cant be done for less than 800 So i'm going down the Merc route.....560 SEC, 5.6 V8, 300 horses and 340 odd ft/lb torque....ok not AS rapid as the jag but still brisk! AND insurable for less than 140 quid! fully comp!I'd love one!
