This isn't a boxter contender...it's a different car altogether. I expect it to be priced much closer to the 911 and performance figures that sit between the cayman r and the 991 C2S.
Exactly... It's supposed to sit between the Boxster and the 911, it's a tad bigger than a Boxster. Do people on here actually follow the development of a new car or just wait til it appears and slag it off?Whatever Jaguar built some folk are always going to be left disappointed or just not like what's on offer.
Personally I love it... Just like the concept, it's what jaguar need... Only demerit is auto only, they will lose potential customers for not offering manual or dual clutch boxes. Doesn't stop Mercedes selling loads of sports cars though.
Looks fantastic and very faithful to the concept - just compare the pics.
Front end looks a little like Merc SLS roadster (no bad thing) and back end (from what we can see) a little like the Z8, which in turn paid homage to the E-type roadster.
Hopefully the interior will look equally as good. The XK is far too old and looks it.
Maybe this will slot just above a Boxster (and be a bit bigger) but cheaper than a 911. Would be perfect if that's where they positioned it.

The negative people on here were always going to slag it off because its a jaguar.
If I've any criticism it's that it's not a Jaguar.CliveM said:
Terrible shame it's auto only as that'll mean I'll never have one.
Agreed, this is one of the main reasons why I wouldn't have a modern Jag.HighwayStar said:

Jag still looks nice though, will be interesting to see the performance figs and list price and i prefer it's looks to the new 911.

What we all need to bare in mind is that:
1. Jaguar used to be aimed at a staid upper class market, bank managers, accountants, politicians and the like (Well not forgetting the exceptions, bank robbers like in the Sweeney of course).
2. Over the years the marketing boys have got a hold of the marque and manipulated it in to one more attractive to the younger set, sporty and attractive to the more flamboyant.
3. By developing cars like the XK8 R & RS along side the more sober XJ Saloons and family orientated 'X' Type Diesel Estates they have widened their market to survive in a vastly more competitive modern market.
Marvellous job to my mind, brilliant, well done Mr Lyons (OK, OK, I know he's deceased and the company has had more owners than a twebty year old Fiesta but you get my drift).
I do like it alot, just think the Coupe had the WOW factor, especially that e-type like rear window . Looking forward to seeing the Paris show cars.1. i think it looks good, how many on here forget that modern car design is restricted by miles of red tape from Europe and the US dictating at what height bumpers, lights can be and the bonnet height for pedestrian impact etc. Ian Callum and his team can design a stunning prototype like the C-X16, but to get it in production and to pass the red tape, the design has to be watered down hence the F-Type. The E-Type had none of these restrictions in original form, but remember how by the Series 3 the looks had been weakened by bumper regulations in the US.
Well the F-Types future looks good for JLR, because if I remember correctly when the Evoque was launched many Pher's said 'it wasn't a real Range Rover, not pretty etc' now JLR have Halewood running 24/7 trying to keep up with demand. Beyond PHer world there's a whole car buying public who will like the car.

I have to be careful now as I initially hated the XK and now think it's a stunning car, helped by its relative rarity. My initial view of this is that it looks a but lacklustre/predictable and certainly doesn't scream "Jag" to me but I'll reserve the final opinion until I see more of them.

Stick some 21s on it and it's the concept that everyone was raving about a while back!
There's no pleasing some people.
...which clearly was not a concept as they had already tooled up for the production car, oldest trick in the book since Audi invented that marketing coup with the TT.There's no pleasing some people.
Very beautiful car nonetheless and really good news for the brand and UK jobs.
