Are you based in the UK?

How did you get VW to take you seriously?
Yes I live in the UK. I simply emailed VW and told them exactly why I would really love the opportunity to buy one of these gorgeous cars - i.e. why I'm so excited about the design and technology and why I want to use one as my everyday transport. This car deserves to be USED, not put in a collection or museum!

I'm not rich, or a tree hugger but I'm buying one.

Fantastic. I think it's an astonishing looking car. I hope you get to enjoy many thousands of miles of happy motoring in it smile Hope you start a thread when you get it so you can show some more details of it.

Yes I'll be starting a thread when I get the car. Meanwhile here are some shots I took before and after my test drive.

Interesting that Stuff magazine reckons the XL1 wins out over the BMW i8 and Tesla Model S:

Their article included this great overhead image:

AMDBS, you are a lucky man! I love the look of these and if I were super rich, I'd definitely want one in the garage alongside my fleet of analogue sports cars. The design is just stunning, it's beautiful. I hope in 20 years time we will look back at it and remember the XL1 as a trend setter for a new era of car design.
