Mate, they are both in max attack mode and the slowest Mac is just faster than the fastest Porsche (Until the 918 arrives) it really is.Did you not just watch it ??

The Turbo is a fine car but its not as quick as the 12C. And yes, the 12C costs a lot more but the Turbo is a lot of money for a car that looks not entirely unlike a £45k Boxster. And I say that as a lover of all things 911.
don't flow your reasoning....CH is in the Mac, no inside pics of the TTS on take off, launch control requires a procedure. Sport plus ect...do not see this engaged, from the way the tts takes off I would say that it is not.....,as for saying that a 991tts looks like a 45k boxster.....each to there own....ill ask for my 100k back when I pk up my second one next month. IMV the tts is good value.....
You think that an average John or Julie with only a passing interest in cars could tell what was in their mirror of the two, Boxster or 991 Turbo? I think not and there's lots and lots of shared bits. By that measure the Turbo is very expensive indeed.

Whereas the 12C is and looks like an exotic supercar which shares parts only with a near 900k Hypercar.

The Turbo remains rather unloved in the Porsche firmament and its residuals will show that this time around just as it has in the past.
APOLO the new Porsche turbo is terrible VFM nowadays IMO and I agree most people would not be able to tell the difference between a Cayman, Boxster or any 911 nowadays. In fact in many ways the Cayman looks more like a 911 of old due to looking more compact in size. Lastly lets be clear the Macca should be quicker at its price point - is its not as you are saying there's a problem. Both cars still do not do anything for me though. I agree with a few on here that the new F Type Coupe looks and sounds the biz. I'd still take a 458 Spyder though money no object!

This is a fair comparison especially when you look at the price of used 12C's vs the price of this new Turbo S. Both cars are fantastic every day supercars but the 12C just edges it in my humble opinion because it is that more exotic.

Besides which what would you rather reply when someone asks you what you drive?!!

MyCC.

I still think the MP4c looks and sounds so so dull for such an expensive car. Leaves me completely cold.
Compared to a 911?!?
Any Porsche GT# - yes absolutely I'd even take a 996 GT2 over the MP4c. Even much prefer the 997 Turbo S.

Just my opinion....
I wasn't commenting on which you or I would buy, I was commenting on which looks and sounds more "dull". For me the 911 is the epitome of "looks dull for its capability", that's a large part of the appeal for me.

How do you know there was no sport plus or LC on the Porsche? Genuine question as I can't imagine the Porsche-lovin' Harris would have missed that out in a drag race.

I wouldn't have thought it was a shock that the much more powerful, much lighter car is also much quicker in a drag race to nearly 200mph and given it didn't really pull out a big advantage until over 120mph it's hardly a bad showing for the 911.

Chris did address the issue of price in the video and did actually say the Porsche was the better car for everyday road use, although he felt the 12C was the more exciting machine overall. Given the relative prices I can't see that as anything other than a "they're both bloody brilliant, if you can afford it then buy the one you want more" verdict.

Honestly struggling to see what you're so bent out of shape about.

Superb video with some stunning slow motion shots.

I prefer the 12c - looks great in comparison to the 991.

I think the 997 turbo looked better than the 991. Still a very capable car and that weight of the new 991 turbo brings it close to the GTR!

Yes, I'd probably agree on the 458 but the 12C is a beautifully clean piece of design in its detail and in the right colour can look even better than the Ferrari. Never sounds as good though.
But whoever made the comment about the 12C sounding dull compared to a Porsche Turbo is kidding. The TT has lots of wonderful attributes but sounding great is NOT one of them.
And if we're talking value for money because the Turbo is a lot cheaper than the (Heavily optioned + a Spyder! ) 12C then I'll take a MY 2014 GTR and cream the Porsche for 2/3rds the price thanks very much.

Or buy a Porsche that beats them all with G T and 3 on the back of it.

These McLarens are super quick. I watched a video last night on Youtube of the 12C against the Aventador and the 12C won.

Much prefer the Lambo though.

I do like the 12C and love how its a UK brand but just something slightly more special about the Italian brands. I see the super clean and efficient McLaren factory in the videos and I think that looks amazing but it seems to dampen the passion for me.

the sound of the engine and the tyre scrub on take off. Trust me LC and SP plus were not engaged....and I have done the test.....the 991ts is faster to 120..I agree the 12c is more of an event...

If you are going to test 2 cars against each other is it not right to use the options that are supplied on the car as standard equipment.....?

Do you understand what an extra 50nm of torque would make to the test? this is what sport plus does....Ah...Logic......

Really enjoyed the vid thanks Chris, it's great to see such expensive machinery being driven in anger, I wouldn't have either though if I had the money as the 458 & GT3 would get my vote instead.

I feel like i'm missing out by not being a part of this comically obnoxious thread...

I was overtaken by a new (same colour as the video) Porsche TTS the other day, it was only until it went past that I realised it was the TT let alone's'and not just another 911. Maybe it's living in London that means you see so many Porsches, but it really didn't do anything for me. I do appreciate that it's an everyday super car and as a package it offers some eye watering numbers.

If the jag was £50k more expensive, honestly - I'd probably still buy that. It stimulates more of the senses more often.

Oh dear the VW shows its true nature. 4WD so it does not kill you and to make it handle properly. The engine still sounds like a sewing machine, it has a huge arse and even though they have been making them for 50 years it gets trounced by a car made in Woking, started @5 years ago. Not to mention that the McLaren was a spider as well.

Time, Nice but Dim will be so annoyed.

Well done McLaren. They make 2 cars and both trounce VW's sports car division. They just need to win a few F1 races again.

but is that not what makes the 991TTS so appealing as a Q car...leave any place...drive to Eu with no problems, the best back up of any car manufacturer on the planet...turn up at any track day. Any weather..make the 12c and RSs for that matter wish they had stopped in bed...Then out to the shops with the kids...
