and remember Harris (and Sutcliffe and Gavin Greene) have all been driving the 918. All saying the big Macs got it beat all ends up.
Indeed. I think the 918 is a prettier car, but the P1 looks so futuristic I love it for that, looks like NOTHING else, yet the 918 has cues to past cars.

Performance-wise it seems that everyone is saying the 918 is incredible but the McLaren P1 is just on another planet. Anyone still doubting that sub 7mins ring time? rofl

Simply astonishing in every way.

I honestly believe this car could be an automotive game changer and hopefully this technology and the whole torque-filling concept will trickle down. Very proud that we are producing such a thing here in the uk.

FTFY

The LaFerrari is going to come in at 1255 KG in its dreams.

Not even dry.

Not even close.

Chris: "can i spank it?"

It's the ultimate sign of confidence when the test driver says "do what you want with it, that's what we designed it for"

Harris, this is your Mona Lisa. We salute you.

"Am I allowed to spank this on the circuit?"

"Do what you like"

Love the throwaway nature of the response. There is a guy who is totally confident with just how good the product is.

I have to say that Porsche are telling potential clients for the 918 that the final full power spec will be still greater than the cars shown so far and it WILL be faster than the P1

So it seems that they are sufficiently insecure about the P1 (and likely the LaF too ) that they're hedging on final specs.

Now Journos have driven 918s on track and done the first drive pieces in both are all coming down hard on the side of the big Mac. What Porsche are saying is that the cars the journos drove aren't final spec!!! Bizarre and very un-Porsche like

But the P1 looks amazing, 918 just very pretty (The Ferrari very clumsy IMO ) and there's nothing they can do about that.

The only question I need answering is this: Is it really a whole new thing?

Wonderful video, Chris is like a child at times - I love that wide-eyed enthusiasm and genuine shock at what he's experiencing. Just wow.

Amazed that so many are writing off the LaFerrari without a single road-test. Is it blind patriotism I wonder? Its worth remembering that the LaF is not going to be much lighter just like the Enzo was going to be then wasn't and much more powerful than the P1 and that Ferrari are on a pretty good run of form at the moment (the F12 is criticised for being TOO sharp and responsive by some, and that's not even a hypercar. And not one journo prefers the MP4 to the 458). Admittedly Ferrari's aero will have to be very clever to match the downforce of that huge wing on the P1 for quicker laptimes.

And TG are wrong (not a massive shock, I know), LaF customer cars have been delivered. Search YouTube and you'll see two red ones and a black one on the streets of Monaco.

Write Ferrari off at your peril.....
This is just a stab in the dark but something tells me you may have already backed a horse in this race... wink

I do agree with the above though.

Except the light bit. We all fell for that with the Enzo claim then reality.
+1, too many people writing off the LaF, can't wait for the reviews on that monster.

Great video, but the Mclaren guy's waffle regarding the ring lap time must mean the car is surprisingly slow - why not give a simple time?

Yes I have. And I watched the track bit twice.

I commented on it on the first page of the thread.

I'm sure you're right to say we should all hold fire until the LaF has been driven but we can all see the cars and now have heard them all. I'm sure that Ferrari will do a fine job but if I was a Tifosi right now I'd be worried.

The P1 looks like a seriously wonderful and characterful drivers car, small wieldy, sounds great and is clearly devastatingly fast.

And its looks futuristic, sculted and when in race mode has a stance thats unmatched by anything I've seen yet from the Ferrari

We'll see.
