I've seen Audi dealers where the new car rises up in a mirror lined lift up to the showroom floor; I would find it extremely cringeworthy, however I guess there are some that love all that cringy bullst.

I'd happily be told that the car is over there and "here are the keys; enjoy".
Like this? - i think all that was missing was the smoke....

Let's hope they don't forget it's down, and open the doors. Could get expensive hehe

Lotus factory handover 16 years ago was ace. Friday afternoon private factory tour while some of the staff had shifted a couple of tubs off the production line so they could build a race car. On arrival at PDI bay I was thrilled to note that my elise had a £1500 hardtop on it FOC.

All these replies put me in mind of the cringe worthy stunts Apple pull when they release 'new' products. All the staff lined up, North Korean style cheering and clapping that never ends, and 'high fives' for passing customers. Worst thing is, people actually seem to join in. Seriously? Lesson here is to buy your overpriced hardware elsewhere... As to whether I mean Apple, Audi, or both - make up your own mind. tongue out

That photo actually made me retch. High fiving customers? Customers allowing or even enjoying being high-fived? Oh lord no.
The thing is, the kind of idiots that are first in the queue for a new Apple product; the ones that have queued outside the store for 4 months, are exactly the kind of pricks that enjoy and lap up all that st.
So their treating their core customers the way they want to be treated???
Madness.
There's always one. No they're patronising their customers, turning them into hipster zombies. Besides, most of those line waiting wkers are there because they were paid either by the smart people who will sell the tat to even stupider wker for a huge margin or by the PR arm of the big brother themselves (allegedly)

Skip to 8.30 and prepare to CRINGE!!!
The whole thing is cringeworthy. I doubt she could sound much less interested when the service manager is wittering on.

"blah blah blah blah blah, blah blah blah blah."

"Oh right."

"blah blah blah, blah blah, blah blah blah blaaaah."

"oh, okaaaay..."

Ha just caught him describing the freebie 1L of Castrol as "been designed by Audi and Castrol for your PACIFIC car...."

laugh

Jesus fking christ!! What a load of crap!

Didn't know you could go to a skid plan with Audi, and that they supply you with a thermos flask so you can drink coffee illegally when you drive hehe

And you also need to make sure you buy the original spec tyres from an Audi dealer, as that makes the most money for them.

My idea of a handover is:

Paid the balance due a few days before.
Is that a 'thing' now? My wife and I have purchased, between us, 3 brand-new Fords in the past 4-5 years and I have a 4th brand-new Ford on order. The first 3 were all ordered from different dealers and we weren't asked for any payment in the run-up to the car arriving (apart from the deposit at the time of ordering).

However, I have seen a post on another site saying that the dealer I have ordered from recently expects the balance to be paid in full a few days before the car is collected (the person who posted this ordered a car from the same dealer I am using). I am not keen, what if I arrive and the car is the wrong spec, or is damaged?

There's no way I'd be paying the balance on something that I hadn't seen.

Over 10 years ago I worked for a dealer who implemented this policy; they had a cash flow problem.

At our Audi dealerships....we like to make a big deal

Announcement board, car cover, reveal, photos, perhaps a small gift, thorough handover !!!

For some customers it a big deal (buying and collecting a new car) so we like to mark the movement for them.
Thats just cost the buyer a hidden £1000 no doubt
You don't get anything for nowt

Other customers just want to jump in and start driving.

Hope the car is all you expect and enjoy the handover !
That'll be the only excitement they'll have whilst they have the Audi then biggrin

This photo has just reminded me of a vomit inducing trip to an Audi dealers. The construction company I used work for ran a fleet of VAG or C@NT cars as I like to call them (see what I did there) and whilst waiting for the conceited, peasant of a parts waller to procure the relevant part for one of the st heaps, I happened to view the awful sight of two young lads virtually pulling their cocks off over a washing machine white Audi of some description, all I know was it was a convertible. A pointy shoed, gelled up, £99 suit, salesman starts chatting to the fawning idiots after chatting enthusiastically for some time the whole thing was wrapped up with them all high fiveing. A little bit of sick came up in my mouth and I felt like suggesting to them that maybe they should get a room. I left feeling unclean. Audi is very much like Apple. I also find the same mentality with any German branded product Miele, Bosch, Sebo, all overhyped sheep fodder, we know have German engineering for our hair. Wheres it going to end?

1:13s "I ordered a car, not a sodding wedding hat!"

Many London-based dealers ran out of space about ten years ago, ie, getting shown around a new RS4 (2007) outside, on the street, on a bus route.

Be careful, you may find the car doesn't have the full leather you paid for or the full tank of petrol agreed and mentioned on the order form. Oh, wait, that was my experience.
