What is happening at EVO magazine?

Jethro Bovingdon has cropped up on a couple of US shows on Motortrend On Demand. I subscribe for Roadkill mostly but flicking through the other content, I was surprised to see him doing skids in DB11 among other things.
Yes he took Jason Camissa's job as he left. I like Jethro but he always seems to "happy" for my liking.
Harris has a gritty element to him that I like.
The balding guy Andrew or whatever who does some of the Autocar videos is informative but lacking in character.
The wolverine looking bloke is quite good on DriveTribe , enjoy him.
I have to admit Matt Farah got very boring very quickly the one takes that I used to love are now skipped.
The one channel I used to find myself going back to (other than Harry's garage) was Motortrend for their Ignition / Head 2 Head.
Jonny lieberman and jason camissa had a fantastic chemistry and bringing in Randy every so often was great.
In terms of video content now I find only Harris and Harry's Garage ticks the boxes.
I do watch the Motortrend stuff with Jethro and Johnny but it feels lacking since Jason has gone.
I subscribe to Autocar, Evo , Top Gear (for Harris), Motortrend H2H / Ignition and Harry's Garage and that just about covers me.

I gave up on it the day they had an article about the Porsche CGT and its great handling characteristics . The same month Paul walker was killed in one.
A bit of common sense might have judged to leave the feature for a month or so...
This was during trott's time
Why? It's a car magazine.A bit of common sense might have judged to leave the feature for a month or so...
This was during trott's time
That would annoy me in the same way a film due to broadcast gets changed because of some terrorist incident.

I’m deeply concerned about what damage Trott might do to Motorsport. I’ve been reading for 20 years and have back issues to 1950. I would assert that the magazine under Damien Smith’s stewardship was as good as at any time in its history. Trott has the potential to undo all that in a year. Losing Roebuck, Taylor and Smith in one hit was a body blow.
I have not looked at current Motorsport - much prefer the 1950’s to 1980’s era – I am slowly acquiring a full set.A while back I bought a bundle of early 2000’s issues on ebay and thought they were very poor in comparison – glossy, superficial and didn’t take long to read.
Very thin on text compared to earlier editions.
This seems to be the trend – a recent Porsche magazine was pathetically lightweight and a waste of a fiver.
I have now given up buying magazines – second hand copies of quality books are much better value.
I miss the quality long term reports that used to feature in EVO.
For example when Harry ran a C5 RS6.
I think they have a Giulia QV on their long term fleet? But you hardly ever hear anything about it.
And I couldn't give a fig about a report where someone has has fitted an extra cup holder to their nissan navara or Skoda Yetti FFS.
Long term reports give you a true feel of the character of the car and writer.

If we agree that, on the whole, Paul Walker was an average human being who's life wasn't any more important than anyone else on the planet, then should EVO do a monthly check of everyone in the world who has just died in a car accident, and exclude any features about that particular make/model of car?A bit of common sense might have judged to leave the feature for a month or so...

You'll be tyred of reading about it this month...... I was an Octane subscriber and I was disappointed when the size suddenly shrunk and the paper quality deteriorated.
It's a shame but it's not surprising. Ad revenue is plummeting and circulation across magazine in general is falling.
Publishers need to find a way to make it work. I subscribe to Readly for £7.99 per month. It's a website and app and I can read literally hundreds of publications on there as part of the monthly cost.
In terms of car mags, there are well over 50 mags including Autocar, What Car, Top Gear, Classic & Sports Car, Classic Car Weekly.

Me too, I even cancelled my sub to Classic & Sportscar as that's on there, which covered half the cost straight away. The biggest criticism is that there's too much content and there isn't the time to read everything you are interested in....
