Not available until 2025. Numbers make it like a 911 Turbo S though no AWD. Sell 'em quickly, Larry! Hurry!

I think it's (finally) stunning.
agreed, including the interior, a big step up over the interior from say those 510hp v8 vantages with square things incl steering everywere...brrr and those seats...

this new one though, I would like to sit in and drive, also the looks, although they could put the letters say the ASTON MARTIN letters on the rear lower on that big 'high' 'beam'? in the middle from left to right how you say that, were you find a nice gril with say a challenge F355.

hm, I made a example what I mean to break the mid piece a bit, some sort letters or like the AMG GT-R airduct in the middle, I can not fhoto shop, but only this hehe

and ow, I love the merc engine, now even more with such power , cool.
For some reason the car looks really high off the ground in this picture though, think it's the way they have lit under the car with the low sun effect. Looks lower and correct in the other pics. I think it looks stunning, bravo Aston for just turning it up to 11.

Probably needed to boost the power so it wasn’t outgunned by a mid range Kia EV (at least on paper).

The price seems to have doubled in the past 20 years but has everyone’s salaries also doubled?

I was at Geneva the year the original Vantage V8 was unveiled and I remember both my wife and I were bowled over by the design. This seems too fussy and a bit too in your face for me.
I don’t think this kind of car applies to people who have a rigid salary structure
The original Vantage V8 was comparable with a 911. I know as I considered both and bought a 911. The new one is almost twice the price of a 911.

The looks and interior have improved.

But a near £200k sports car (inc options) and it has an auto gearbox?
I'm not keen on the looks, and the wheels look comically large to my eyes.

As for the gearbox, I assume you would rather a DCT? A common complaint of the previous one but honestly I always felt the 8 speed ZF worked great in the Astons. Quick when you want manual mode and around town far better behaved than the Ferrari DCT
If you watch any of the videos that were released last night, Simon Newton from AML explained very clearly that the ZF box was retained, but modified, even though a DCT was also considered. The reasons given were the torque output of this engine, which is 800NM, and the brief breaks in drive associated with a DCT, which he said could unsettle the rear. In answer to the post regarding the black plastic radar unit, have you looked at how Ferrari “integrated” it in to Roma? Vantage at least has it in the middle. I’ve never been a great fan of the previous generation car, mainly the front and the interior, but this latest version certainly addresses those criticisms. I think it looks superb and I hope AML sells loads of them. My only worry is that there seems to be quite a lot of overlap with DB12 which may hamper overall sales. I guess we will know more when the driving reviews appear in a couple of months time to see how different Vantage actually is. Very well done AML.
clap

BRM.
I wonder why they compromised the gearbox and opted for torque quite that high? The cynic would say that headline numbers are cheaper.

I’m sure the ZF is perfectly ok but this is meant to be a sports car and the competition at this price point is dominated by DCT-equipped cars.

AML don’t have unlimited R&D funds nor the luxury of time as nobody was buying their old cars, so I get it. But they need to do more than get AM owners to love the new car.
Is there much to chose between an auto box and DCT - to me both are equally dull- , but the ZF box does a great job of hiding the fact that it still has a torque convertor .

When Fisker-penned Vantage was launched, people moaned: more expensive than rival 911 but slower and thirstier; old hand-me-down Jag engine; X-type column stalks, crappy old Volvo satnav, Ford Fiesta (or similar) window switches, blah, blah.

Second-gen car appears, moaners said: fugly grille with disproportionately small headlights; more expensive than a 911; Aston should be rivalling Ferrari; hand-me-down base-spec AMG engine; crappy old Merc satnav, A-class (or similar) switchgear, generally bland and cheap cabin; no manual gearbox, blah, blah.

Manual eventually launched. Of the c.150 cars currently on AT, only 8 are manuals rolleyes

New car has state-of-the-art ICE-only V8, with unique AMG-based configuration, more bhp and lb-ft than a Ferrari Roma; cheaper than rival 911 (Turbo S); front-end styling addressed; cabin has real buttons / knobs - only Bentley, R-R and Pagani currently do same - >90% of switchgear is bespoke; manual gearbox is in the wings.

In short, all of previous-gen cars’ problems sorted and overall package cranked up to 11.

And guess what? Moaners say it has too much power, they now prefer old car’s grille / lights - really??!! - cabin is too flash, and price is too high (compared to what?), blah, blah.

Haha it does feel liek a bad joke reading about new cars (especially Astons) on a so called enthusiast's forum.

The base car price is reasonable considering the updates over the previous car and it's position in the market.

The optional extras are not. I stand by what I said.

Why does AMR green paint cost £15K on a Vantage but £2.8K on a DBX 707?

The new Vantage looks fantastic. Much more cohesive than the previous model. The interior is a serious upgrade too.

As an ex "new gen" F1 Vantage owner, I approve. This would look rather nice next to my DBX 707.

How did you like the F1 edition?

It's a car that's on my radar as an engaging grand tourer.

Will it be better than the "old, new" Vantage? Yes, although that seems an awful lot of extra horsepower needed to shave 0.2sec off 0-60 and add 7mph to top speed. Odd they've gone the retro route with stying though. The "old/ new" still looks like it's from the future, this seems desperate to look like the past, at least from the front. Let's see what it's really like when someone gets to do a proper road test.

As NGK210 says it is funny how previously the "slitty MX-5 lights* and stick on black plastic looking crap around the front grill was hated but now they are gone the people who liked that now hate the new one only proving yet again everyone is different.

Sales figures proved that the haters were in the majority so they have moved in the right direction and personally I think it is a massive improvement inside and out.

It is available with a much more traditional look which I love.
Brighter grille and wheels to fill in the blackness . The wheels can be silver or a mid shade like here.

People like to moan about new cars here ….then a few years on they realise it wasn’t so bad.
Honestly, a car company could release a new F40 style car - light weight and analogue for £50k and people would still complain.

It’s hard to form an opinion based on photographs in this era, with modern cars often looking better in the metal.
I’m excited by the prospect of seeing one up close and personal.

Think about perception before you judge - we typically view a car from 5-6 feet above ground level - whereas the photos here seem to taken from knee hight! I expect the bumpers will appear less extreme as a result of this perspective or viewing angle.

To my eyes that new front end looks *a lot* better, and also brings a lot more cohesion to the range (where the Vantage previously looked like it came from a completely different stable). Noice.

I did, but I also love this gen (indeed, I think I prefer it's more overt muscularity).
