Brings a tear to the eye, that does.
Glad it wasn't just me that suffered the "I appear to have something in my eye" reaction!!
That was filmed in my neck of the woods.
That would be my favourite i think too, and BN is right, it was filmed up his way. Some interesting roads up there

There have been a few moments or episodes of Top Gear which have just been sheer brilliance in my opinion.. some which I can remember:

  • The entire Vietnam, South Pole and South America specials were all fabulous.
  • Hammonds return after his accident.
  • The original "Porsche's for £1,500" challenge
  • The "supercars for £10,000" challenge
  • Both parts of the Aquatic Vehicles challenges
  • The recent episode to build mobile homes...
  • Veyron vs Light Aircraft race..
The hosts have just got excellent chemistry, and whilst some of the shows are painfully scripted and un-entertaining, I do enjoy the dicking around just as much as I enjoy the serious stuff.

Some of the really good stuff was not that recent ...Sabine at the ring in the transit, can anyone else believe that was 5 and a half years ago?.

The three of them in france with the supercars, isle of man coupes, the cheap porsche and italian supercar challenges, and the best ever the RS4 vs the rock climber, this in particular has stunning production values, all of these were pure gold tv, superb entertainment and very funny, just three mates messing about in cars, it just not that good now.

when tiff was pre season testing the 962 or when he was comparing the road going rs500 to the touring car version.

Tiff in the Macca F1.

There is a beautiful shot from cockpit of the car as he nails the throttle - the scenery through the window turns into a blur, there is this enormous noise and Tiff looks like he is hanging on for dear life.

I think that was what really turned me onto performance cars as a 16 year old kid

The Caravan Holiday episode. Prior to this the challenges were presented as feasible even though it was obviously scripted / staged.

The caravan one was, I think, the point where they went for pure comedy. I remember watching the early stages thinking if there would be any serious point to it and then found myself howling with laughter right through it.

Highly entertaining and very tongue in cheek

Clarkson in the DB9 vs the other two on the train across Europe. I don't think I blinked once through that...

The Hi-Lux episode, and the following week when they had it on top of the collapsing building. Demonstrating that true automotive greatness isn't all about speed and Powwwwwerrrrrrrrrrrrr! and that they appreciateit.

Both Aquatic car episodes.

Vietnam special when Clarkson locks up the front wheel of his bike and goes down HARD.

I like to think of it as payback for all the times he has rubbished motorcycles and their riders. A proper finger pointing laugh was more than deserved.

Maybe, just maybe, he will have just a bit more respect for the skill and risk involved. hehe

JC film about the Reliant Robin when he kept rolling it. You could easily tell what was going to happen but still rather funny.

Cant remember which episode this is from but when JC says 'homotocyclists', I laughed for quite awhile. Also the VW Fox VS Aygo football match and JM says some weird foreign name like Hamir something or other.
