I wouldn't bother with a Kia. Buy cheap, buy twice. Get something decent and look after it rather than mess around with all of this incentive bks.

Depends what your after really. Anyone after say a fiesta/polo sized car then this makes a lot of sense.

1 person might want a 13 year old E36 M3 whereas someone else wants the security of zero miles & full warrany of a brand new car with the tax incentive and then run it for 9 years (into the ground) then repeat makes it a very cheap way into a new car if your planning on doing it anyway.
If you have no soul and are happy to drive round in a gutless kia then go ahead.

If that passes then I'll probably decide to get rid of the Rover with its HGF issue - just remembered its drivers side electric window doesnt work/stopped working same week as the HGF and thats an MOT failure... no MOT currently so HGF + window = not worth it. That aside its in very good nick for a 12 odd year old car. Its a shame that cost of repair will be so high
It need not cost a lot to replace the cylinder head gasket if you are half-decent DIYer with the spanners. If the car is otherwise basically sound, go for it.

Since last year, I have replaced the cylinder head gasket on a friend's 2000 1.4 Rover 25 and this past weekend, my wife's 2003 MG ZS 120.... the cost of parts being less than £100, and that cost included fresh 10-40 semi synthetic, filter and stainless steel exhaust manifold studs and nuts. If only the gaskets were purchased, less than £50. Have a look at this thread on PH I've posted up ~ an illustrated "how to":~

That was for the MGZS120+. Here's the Rovertech.net thread I posted of my friend's R25 so called HGF which has much more detail with illustrations .... this experience is worth reading in full.... a real eyeopener.

I post these for the benefit of those who have been quoted silly money to do what is one of the easiest 16 valve cylinder head gasket renewal jobs for any half-decent DIY spanner twirler ~ provided no other damage has resulted from a severely overheated engine. That latter can apply to ANY car as a work colleague's overheated Toyota needed much more than just a gasket ~ it needed a complete cylinder head as the original was ruined.
