RE: BMW Bits For New Seven-Style Roadster
Discussion
Peter, I can just see you with a big wide grin on your face
(as a Ginetta G4 fan I'm pleased for you).
And if anyone wonders whether Ginettas are race proven, they must have been hiding under a stone!
Take a look at this short vid of the G4 (from 1min 12secs into the video), how it demolishes the Elises, Morgans, Porsches etc.

Just a thought, is this the new way forward?
Bring out a new car (ok, it's a kit) and the boss of the company answers prospective customers almost immediately with their queries on a forum.

I hate to break it to you but this car will only take 4 cylinder BMW engines - That means M3 power is not possible ![frown](/inc/images/frown.gif)
But never let the facts get in the way of a good story, eh!?
the car can also take M3 6 cill its depends on wich kit you buy...see the answer of the bos himself.![frown](/inc/images/frown.gif)

[quote]This is what powers the WTCC 320si, a highly tuned, naturally aspirated 2L four cylinder motor developing 280 PS at 8,500 rpm.

I'd love to know if you could simply supply the parts to this company to build the car for you for a 'copmlete' build rather than them sourcing it (or at least that's how I'm hearing it).
Absolutley no problem.Edited by BMW Powered on Tuesday 8th December 17:52

Have you looked at the website. There is a Legend, which takes the four cylinder engines. Then there is also a legend 6. The 6 means it will take 6 cylinder engines from an E36 or E46 which happen to include both incarnations of the 6 cylinder M3 engine.![frown](/inc/images/frown.gif)

I'm really not a BMW fan, no real reason but they've never tugged - so I'm not keen on the dash and wheels (BMW colours are nice though), but for all the time I manage to get out I'm looking for something a little more exhilarating and something like this would be brilliant; 6 pots, lightweight, powerful, great engineering (I've no problem with that either) & unusual. The steering/suspension needs to be good, but it sounds like a great idea on the face of it.

I'm sure there is (or was until recently) another kit car company who used the BMW I6 (maybe a lot more of the car too) but forget what it is - I know my brother's neighbor wanted to do one and discussed it at length with him.
I think it was a cobra replica based on e34 5 series.eliot said:

Dr Rick
...right to mr bmw powered..
you've clearly hit the right note with us.
my personal 'advice' would be to really ensure that the quality is there.
i think you need to be in the dax area (i.e. sort of sub westfield).
i'd start advertising fully built cars as soon as you can and make sure they're well finished. or the service you offer as in if i find a rogered 318is and i bring it to you how much would your labour rates be to build the car etc.

oh and by the way i really like this if i didn;t say so yesterday.
i think it's just what the market needs.
personally i don;t like the name Legend - it reminds me of those little noddy cars that that bloke does doughnuts in at every car even ever. not that well.
but that's an irrelvence and better than a pun like calling it the FL-45h or something..!

What an outstanding idea, and for £7000 base ![yes](/inc/images/yes.gif)
I've never considered a Seven style 2nd car before as too impractical/expensive. This however solves both those problems, less than a Mondeo, and being BMW parts its eminently servicable/DIY friendly. My choice would be the M44 lump.
I might acutally buy one of these![woohoo](/inc/images/woohoo.gif)

You're going to have to give a better explanation than that, because running directional tyres backwards is only going to lead to less grip on wet roads.
So let me get this straight. You want to take a car that weighs 600kg and makes ~350bhp with no roof out in the WET?
This is straight out, the best idea I've heard for absolutely ages. Why there isn't a Sevenalike with a BMW engine already I can't imagine.
Are the prices quotes fully-built? £8500 for a Legend6 with an S50 engine in it is brilliant value if so, and I'd definitely be on the 'interested' list...
Now, where are they based and do they have one I can play with. I could do an independent road test for PH![wink](/inc/images/wink.gif)
