This is my current snotter, took a chance on it a few weeks back, centre diff is now showing signs of wear but its no big deal at the minute,

92k with FSH, two owners, loads and loads of history, 100% standard

All this with MOT and tax until next year for £800

I think I done VERY well, I have barely used our "good" car since I bought this

£580 (was advertised at £1k) and I spent £100 on some Pirello Sotto Zero winter tyres.

6 months tax and test. The previous owner did all the oils and filters in July.

Plan is to run it until spring when I dig the lotus out again. Stick another MOT on it and sell it on.

You sir make me jealous.

When annual miles drop, finances improve and the OH hits 25 (next year) these are FIRMLY on the agenda for Mondeo replacement..... Or go newer & punt the Saab on

Inclined to agree, my dad collected his first snotter in 15 years last night....

2001 Jaguar S-Type 3000cc v6 auto

95k miles, papers, t&t 6-9 months, 2 previous owners.

Known issues are 4x bald tyres, needs a service, also needs a £50 trip to jag for radio code and a warning code wiping.

Mechanically it's strong, bloody good condition, full leather, parrot kit, cd changer, cruise, sports mode and TCS.

£795 bought it

I had to buy a matching pair of sheds a cabriolet for the summer and I now going to semi retire my old A4 for the winter months.
The a4 was bought two years ago with 52000 on the clock for £281, and the cab was bought with 67000 on the clock for £700.
Both are trouble free and drive as good as new and both were won of eBay.
I'm now an audi convert.

I'm gonna start a snotter-hunt soon. Missus has a brand new motor and I just bought a 7 year old mazda 3, but the commute I thought I was doing has now been pulled due to office relocation. 1.6 auto petrol, brutally efficient but dull as anything. If I am only driving 10 mins to the train station every day now I think I may invest in something a bit more PH and punt the 3 on. I'll lose money but gain smiles.

Always had a thing for Volvo Estates with T5 engines and intergalactic mileages, or maybe a proper luxobarge.

Saying that, now's possibly the time to get a Calibra, my favourite ever car (don't ask). Can't be many sorted ones around now though I suspect.

I posted this on the Bargain Barge thread yesterday and someone posted a link to this thread, so thought I'd add it here too. Only downside is that the cruise control doesn't appear to be working. Here's my post from the other thread:

This might be more bangernomics than bargain barge and it's well below the lower thread limit, but I've just picked this beastie up:

It's a 1995 Volvo 850 2.5 SE. Purchased from a Volvo specialist in Surrey who had taken it in part ex from an old boy who'd owned it ffor a few years and traded up to a V70. Said Volvo specialist have also done all the servicing on the car, so were able to supply me a big sheaf of invoices for the work they've done on it over the years. It's MOT'd until July next year and passed the last MOT with no advisories. It came with half a tank of petrol and good tread on all 4 tyres.

All the toys seem to work (and there's a lot of them), although I'm not sure on the cruise control - more on that later. Bodywork is solid, there's not a spot of rust anywhere, but a few scrapes and scratches, mainly on the corners of the bumpers (which are plastic, so doesn't look too bad).

It's done 187,000 miles, but mechanically feels tight as a drum and the interior and seats seem to have taken the mileage very much in their stride.

All in all, I'm pretty happy with it for £300. smile

Excuse the phone pics, I'll try and take some better ones on the weekend...

CC could be brake position sensor? Do you have any lights on the dash?

No, the dash is a light free zone (for now at least!).

Heres mine, £390 is all it cost, got it on classic insurance. Had to buy new front tyres. Also plumped on new driveshafts. Spent £20 'modifying' it. £15 foglight tint, £5 splitter 'laverly jubly'. I might go completely batst crazy spending money and plump £27 on a K&N replacement filter, I know, im nuts right!

My latest in a long line of snotters. £600 two months ago with five months Tax and MOT and 196000 miles. Now coming up to 202k and not so much an utterance of a problem, although I have changed the oil/filters/cambelt as a matter of course.
