On a happier note, I'm just back from 3 days volunteering at Goodwood Revival (I volunteered as a buggy driver, and spent half the weekend ferrying lovely people around, and the other half enjoying the revival). Some of my photos below
19th year at The Revival for me (yes, that's all of them!) and as always spent all 3 days down there and wouldn't miss it for the world. That yellow Lister Knobbly above is my friends Dad's old car L100NYY said:

Jeremy I think I spotted your elan, looked great with a few other red sprints close by too. Think I need a classic...

Wow, good going!!I've been three times but not for about 6 years now. Might have to pop along for your 20th.
Rejn - how did you go about getting the buggy gig?

Ex Japan, but LHD unfortunately. Got to be worth a look. Stop off at the chemist for some brave pills first though.

brad - I just replied to a random e-mail that landed in my inbox. I was made redundant a few weeks ago so have a bit more time at the moment! Drop me an e-mail if you're interested and I can introduce you.oh - and as an aside, I've been using mrs rejn's Mini Cooper S convertible a fair amount recently - and despite it being a cheap old thing (from 2005), I'm actually becoming quite fond of it - driving out of Goodwood around 8/9pm in the warm evening, along some of Sussex's finest back roads was enlightening. When you push it, it goes very well indeed. And when the roads were wet on Saturday (on a particularly greasy bit) it turns out that it'll spin it's wheels in 3rd!
Sometimes I just want to buy a hopelessly rusty E55 saloon like this one
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mercedes-Benz-AMG-E55-95...
and have my local specialist drop the drivetrain into my trusty and rust-free 7 seat W124 estate.
With extra sound-deadening, it would be pretty much my perfect car.

Lovely Revival pix. I had tickets last year but had to abort due to another commitment sadly

What's happened to the MR2? Is it out of action?
Mister is overdue an MoT, slightly complicated by being blocked into my garage by the aforementioned 986 box. Basically, it only gets occasional use and because I've been so busy, juggling cars was not really on the menu (the mister sits on a CTEK indoors, being as it is a rust prone heap of aged-but-improbably-rapid blue tin foil ). The slowlo is cowering under an inch thick layer of tree sap and bird droppings that I have to periodically scrape off before using it, due to the Box occupying its usual space. Oh for a nice big driveway and a double or bigger garage. You couldn't make this shush up!Back on topic:

Yes, there are none for sale on PH, unsurprisingly
I was fantasizing about having one and couldn't be bothered to find a link to an actual auction (I'm guessing many change hands without even being advertised?). My question would have been better phrased as "assuming you like them, how much would *you* pay fr a nice example?"
I bid £1, but could go to £250k wit ha couple of trips to a loan shark. Betting I'd be about £0.75m-£1.75m short!
ETA: Ha!
