It's confirmed (and through some thread history as well as a Sytner letter) as a B3.5 so suspension, spoilers, steering wheel, gearknob and wheels but no engine modification and no plaque.

A 535i plus or a B10 3.5 lite, take your pick.

Edit. Quite a 'challenging' and confrontational seller by an account on forum5..... and he's only had it a few months too.

Do you have a link?

I had an E34 B10 3.5 about 6 years ago.. as dull as ditch water!
General discussion, "Going to look at this E34 tomorrow".

Which number B10 3.5 did you have and why so dull?

I breally don't like the E34, but, I was offered it for £900! It had lived in Aberdeen and was a bit rusty.

It was too smooth, and, not at all fast. I would love an E28 Alpina though.

I also used to own an Alpina E24!

My ex had one of those, back in the day. Great little cars. Though, the 1.9 was the 'daddy'.

Now I do like a GTE 16v, I remember being impressed when my mate's one wheelspun in 3rd in the wet. hehe 150bhp (a bit more for the 'pre cat' models) seemed a hell of a lot then.

Not feeling the love for that Vectra though, we had a GSi on test once when my missus' company car was up for renewal, and it was a bit crap to be honest. She ended up having an Astra coupe 2.2 instead, and that was crap too - the cam chain snapped at about 20k miles! My love for Vauxhalls diminished by the mid nineties I'm afraid.

Yep agreed, I had a white 16v years ago.
Very tempted to get another.

Just out of interest I had a look on How Many Left...

More on the road than I would of thought, and over 400 SORN'd!

I thought those were worth a bit more than that?

Although I have no idea what Rev it is to affect its value.

Twin entry turbo rather than twin turbo too though isn't it?

People saving them for the non-salty summer roads maybe

yikes
If I had £2k sitting there right now I would buy that, no hesitation. cry My mk2 was only a 1.4 but if I could have any one old car of mine back it would be that. It was flawed but ridiculously comfortable and kept on going, shame about the rust frown Seeing that GTE has awoken a deep lust within me! Plus I have a garage now so could hopefully avoid the rust issue to some extent. D'oh frown

On another note (slight thread diversion, caused by seeing various Fords on here), I just looked at Escort Cosworths. Easily available for £15k relatively recently.

HOW MUCH NOW????

This fast Ford thing is a bit silly now. Have to say, the Mk2 Focus RS is looking increasingly like a good futureproof buy, especially as the Mk3 looks so wimpy, 4wd notwhithstanding.

A friend of mine had a truly epic repair bill on his (thousands and thousands).

No room in the engine bay. I believe that even a little job involves taking the engine and ancillaries out. Yikes.

Shame, as I love them.

I've watched these for a while.
Most of the 30k cars have been for sale for an age.
I'm pretty sure they'd shift if they were around 20k.

See! Dangerous! hehe

I had heard about the engine bay now you've said it but I didn't know it was that bad. Yeah that's a real shame. I bet they sound incredible.

You can buy effectively the same car in a 4-door shape for half the cash. You just don't get a big spoiler on the back and a few gauges on the dash

My chum is clearly a loser - he chopped his S4 (I refused to buy it, but probably should have now that it was sorted) for an RS4 (the V8 one) and had to have the engine cleaned out and fix the suspension when it collapsed.

So go for it - you are clearly luckier than him.

When this model was current, it was available as a company car where I worked - even the 16v model. I was in my twenties then, and managed to roll one (lift-off oversteer and a large concrete block getting in the way of the resultant spin saw to that!). I can't recall the exact numbers but there were something like 160 Astra GTEs on the fleet and something like 150 had been the subject of insurance claims. They removed it from the list fairly swiftly!
