Most comfortable car seat?
Discussion
Having been spoiled by the supremely comfortable seats of my past cars (Volvo S60 and Ford Focus Ebony in particular), I tend to pay a lot of attention to this area. I must say, the unassuming seats in my MR2 Turbo are very, very good. They're nice and firm, but soft enough not to be punishing with the stiff suspension. They're just the right width to hold you in place, and the bolsters keep you firmly planted through the corners. They're a really good seat. I was going to swap them for leather items, but I reconsidered as there is really nothing wrong with these ones.
My favourites are the current Porsche seats found in the 911 and Cayman and the Ferrari 550 Marenello (I've not tried newer GTs from Ferrari so can't comment on those). Being low down helps - there's nothingn worse for back pain than sitting with the pedals underneath you (like in most cars) - having the thighs supported reduces stress on the lower back.
The most surprising seats for me have been the tillets that Caterham Superlights use. They're rock hard and one size fits all, but I find them extremely comfortable. However, as someone said earlier, a custom made race car seat is just fantastic, provided the car is big enough to seat you in the correct position (more than can be said for most single seaters, which I really struggle with in terms of cockpit length).

The adjustability of them is rather nice eh Baronyx?
Indeed, they're far more accomodating than my MX5's seats. Though I've not needed to move the seat, I've adjusted the wheel using the tilt control and found a good position for maximum control and comfort. It's refreshing to sit down in such a hard edged car and be cossetted by a comfy seat like the MR2 has! This is a big bonus for me, as I often finish work knackered and in the early hours of the morning and I just want to be home quickly. Whilst I must sharpen my mind and my feet for the coming drive in the MR2, at least I can dump my shattered frame into the seat comfortably. If anything is surprising though it's the seats from my Focus Ebony. Expertly trimmed in great leather, well packed and very supportive with excellent heaters built in.

MR2 Turbo Seats.
4 position lumbar adjustment
Bolster tightness adjustment
Seat height adjust
Never sat in a more comfortable OE or aftermarket seat, so much so that I'd seriously consider retrofitting one into my next car.
another vite from me (not just turbo though...all mk2 m2's have same seats)4 position lumbar adjustment
Bolster tightness adjustment
Seat height adjust

I hate to look at seats and see that they are massively fat, definitely prefer thin rigid layer with memory foam type cover and non leather cover. vx220 or elise seats are excellent examples. I prefer non leather, lateral support is highly rated and fixed back seats seem to be my favourite.
That said I dont feel like Im on a bed of nails with the heated leather in my alfa lol.

DC2 Recaros were very comfortable. They are on the narrower side, which was perfect for me.
Megane R26 recurs are also rather good.
No.1 for me though has to be the Recaros (recurring theme!) in the Mondeo ST TDCI (and ST 220). They were an expensive optional extra but hands down the most comfortable on a long drive. Not as supportive as the DC2, but not far too. Plus they are heated!

The most comfortable seats I had were in my old Vauxhall Amoeba. They were huge, electric heated things which you could spend hours in without getting the slightest hint of backache. As it was a diesel, auto with cruise control you rarely had to exert yourself, or even get to refuel (500miles between fill ups).
