Is now the best time to rush out and buy the best authentic 'classic' TVR you can afford before they rocket?
I suspect not. If the venture is successful to the point of hoovering up all the knackered old cars then they will have long before set up for building from scratch. Prices may look like they are firming as the old knackers disappear etc but I can't see this being a venture delivering hundreds of cars a year.

I must admit that I think they could do with being smaller - they are very big for a 2 seater. I probably wouldn't buy a LHD model either. I've driven many LHD car and its not an issue for trucks or slow cars but for a fast car I need RHD both for overtaking and the gear lever.
They aren't any bigger than similar cars though:Length | Width | Height | Weight | |
C6 Vette | 174.6" | 72.6" | 49.1" | 1470kg |
---|---|---|---|---|
997 Turbo 911 | 175.6 | 72.9 | 51.2" | 1570kg |
Cayman S | 170.9" | 70.9 | 51.4" | 1415kg |
||=Evora S=||170.9"||72.8"||48.1"||1437kg||

What TVR's weigh 735kg?
What, I said "precisely half as much"? I was just saying the Corvette weighs significantly more than a Cerbera, which I chose to do via a joking "about twice as much". Given you have quoted 1470kg for a Corvette and the Cerbera is 1060kg, I would view that as significantly more.
I do hope that I have cleared up any misunderstanding that you may have had.

No, I said "apart from weighing about twice as much" which is the vernacular. Much like "hold on a sec" or "wait a minute". Or are you the kind of insufferable arse who says "that has been exactly 60 seconds now... I am unprepared to wait any longer"?

Bad night? You sound awfully grumpy. I was just saying the Corvette weighs significantly more than a Cerbera, which I chose to do via a joking "about twice as much". Given you have quoted 1470kg for a Corvette and the Cerbera is 1060kg, I would view that as significantly more.

Having now looked at the website I can say that this is utterly hopeless as an endeavour. Surely they can't expect people to part with 10's of thousands of pounds to a company that can't even employ a web page designer out of puberty?
The idea of even mentioning that they could provide a griffith fully built is idiotic given that as a new car it simply will not pass currently regulations?
And 187mph for an open top Tuscan 2? Well, I hope they've sorted the aero as mine, when the roof and window were removed, (admittedly a standard and not a convertible) suffered horrendously from front end lift at 130mph upwards.
If they said they were concentrating on Sags and Tuscans as part of a start up then fine, that's (almost) credible. But to group all the cars going back to 1990 as viable new cars is just grasping at straws.
Please, please pleeeeeeeeaaaase Nick, sell TVR to someone. Anyone. Just get it out of your hands.

I think the biggest issue with this is not what they are offering but the fact that the current 'owner' has had a number of schemes which have never got past the idea stage.
His credibility is pretty darn awful and I'd be surprised if there are enough people out there willing to hand him any cash, to make this viable.

According to my dictionary, "Gasse" translates as "Lane".
Aside from any sniggering, Brown's Lane should strike a chord with anyone with any pretensions to be a petrol head.

Prejudices aside - I'm happy to see more support for TVRs instead of less. I'm almost scared (well not really but more sort of a niggling worry) to take mine out these days in case things start to go wrong.
What does boil my waste water is the low grade english on the shiny new site. Why can't people proof-read before they publish?
