OK, that looks very nice, but any car looks nice lowered with decent wheels, bet its still got tacky lexus lights on the back and it still has less power than most hot hatchbacks...

sorry but a big fail for me...

cars like the 2nd gen nissan 200sx would tear this a new asshole whithout any mods... and they were better value

looks fookin ugly from the back and the wheels look lost in the arches...
S14's unmodded were a little soft in the corners and were in the mid 20's over 10 years ago so would easily cost 28k now?

Sounds fantastic

Problem I would have is the real world performance, your going to spend most of your life with mid sized German oil burners, modern hot hatches and "barry" cars (chipped fiests ST's and Corsa VXR's)glued to your back bumper

The local barrys are the main reason I have sold my R32 DSG, low 6's 0-60s just do not cut it any more frown
Life isn't a motor race....... Since when was a sub 6 second 0-60 necessary?

I don't think it looks much like the Hyundai, the Toyota is miles better looking!

Before you accuse me of not understanding this car - I do. I just fear the torque figure is a little low for decent real world performance.
Eh?

Not sure I follow.
Did you not get the memo, since diesels began to grow in poularity any engine with less than 200 ft/lb of torque is considered to be too weedy for moving a modern motor car at more than the pace of an asthmatic ant carrying heavy shopping.

A shed load of people have never experienced a light weight quick NA car so have no idea how to make a car go quickly without torque to help it on its merry way.

Another load of people have treat as gospel the thinly veiled marketing speak trotted out by journalists who speak of real world performance when describing torquey cars, often comparing cooking cars mid range figures to those of a Boxster S.

Waited a long time for this, and it looks like it's been worth it. I was speaking to a dealer last week and he promises to be in touch with the first available to try.

I have talked to 3 and none of them are expecting more than 10-15 per year so 4000 may be a bit high. The order book is open at Toyota UK though.

People seem to forget that the AE86 was an introduction to RWD. This car is going to give so many of us in a few years cheap access to safe, reliable RWD. It really is a master piece. Thank you Toyota/Subaru you have just opened up a new market of which I believe others will follow.
This +++

(And take note Mr Ford, who keep refusing to make a 'new' rwd 'modern' Capri, as they say there simply isn't a market for such a car anymore banghead)

It'd be great if this does make all the other manufacturers who used to have affordable RWD cars go "me too".

I know PH does like it's shiny new dealer-cars, but....
I was rather liking the idea, until I thought; what does this offer over a 200sx (s14a, lets say, as they're pretty smile ) with say £8k of suspension/engine refresh/etc?
Not quite as nice inside and presumably not as many 'safety features' for a similar weight.

[edit - ah, 200sx already been mentioned it seems.]
But, yes, I'm one that would like my new cars to offer something new over the old cars. While for instance BMW hasn't managed to get and more power per cc out of the M3 so far (turbos will of course change things), they have made the car faster over the years.
Not the point, maybe.

The £15k you've got in the bank I suspect would offer a lot more 'peace of mind' about getting problems fixed, at least for anyone that's had to fight tooth and nail to get warranty work sorted smile.

The dealer I just ordered mine from this morning ( biggrin ) has been told they will get 6 for the first 12 months, (same stock levels they received as their last new Prius model) Maybe some garages (city?) getting a few more to sell? confused but can't see 4000 being available.

Have you ordered it without trying it?
