I've no idea what exchange rate you are using, but the first one looks likely to be priced at less than 1 million JPY, and would therefore be right at the bottom end of the market for a GT.i've found the following for sale in Japan to import.

The second is likely to be priced around 3.5 million JPY, which would probably net a quite nice GT or GT-X that would possibly still need a bit of work ( but buyer beware ).
The third is priced way too low to be anything more than a basket case for a genuine GT-R, and is quite likely to be a fairly poor GT or GT-X ( even if its wearing GT-R badges ) and will be that price for a good reason....

:O This one, get this one!!!!!On my fourth Rx7 now and just think they are awesome! And before someone perpetuates the myth they blow up regularly, it certainly hasnt been the case for me! In fact my first one is still going strong today 8 years on with its current owner!
You could also add the Mazda Cosmo (20b variant to the list) for a lot less than 12k too! A future classic, very possibly!

So, three quite similar cars but a big variation in price. Two of them really right at the bottom end of the market for running and driving cars, and no genuine GT-R....
Best thing to remember about these cars is that they should be viewed on a case-by-case basis, and preferably in person. All mechanical parts are fairly easy to come by, but soft trim, brightwork and many body parts are hard to come by and/or very expensive. The most important part of course is the body structure itself, which in many cases will have been crash damaged and/or rusty some time in the past. Just like many cars of similar age, they will often have been through a mid-life crisis of enthusiastic but make-do-and-mend young owners who tended to spend more money on go-fast and bling rather than structure. It's a bit of a lottery, really.
There are lots of good cars in Japan, but they tend to be a bit more expensive than these three.

Firstly a big hello, this is my first PH message/post!
Anyway i love all things JDM and would say I have always found that the Nissan Sunny/Pulsar GTIR never gets mentioned anywhere...
comparing standard cars like for like there's not really anything quicker (scarier) for the same money, 0-60 5.3 secs, 150mph(ish) flat out and it's 4x4, what more could you want for around £2500 these days? (of course i am bias as i've owned one for 5 years)
fuel pump and a dawes device for about £100 will give you 300bhp, same bhp per tonne as a ferrari and the stopping power of a loaf of bread
MR2 turbos are scary too, with the way you sit low down there's great sensation of speed as the boost kicks in like the RX7s!
Test results from a magazine...

Alan,
Some pictures of your car collection would be nice.
I'm lost with all these Jap classics.
Pictures tell a lot.
Thanks .
Phil

The non-Turbo Celica 2.0 does 0-60 in 7.4, the GT4 is in fact mid 5 seconds.

It's just such a shame that the amazing RX7 was replaced by the RX8, which can't hold a candle to the RX7.You could also add the Mazda Cosmo (20b variant to the list) for a lot less than 12k too! A future classic, very possibly!

I've owned a FD2 for almost 3 years now.
Perfect balance of rarity, reliability, practicality and fun in my mind!
Every article I read, or comment from someone who has driven an FD2 says it's the best Type R they've ever driven, that no other Civic, Accord or Integra can hold a candle to it (though the NSX Type R probably sits in it's own Sphere) and imo, it was a dreadful mistake for Honda not to offer the car as an export model, or even to try and modify the car for the UK and European market. Instead, the Type R brand here ended with the FN2 Civic, an incredible, charismatic engine buried under an overweight GT-hatch body.I've owned a FD2 for almost 3 years now.
Perfect balance of rarity, reliability, practicality and fun in my mind!
