RE: Chris Harris video: GT2 RS vs Panigale part 2

An even better test would have been to put it up against a 3 yr old used model, along the lines of this is what you can do for 5% of the price of a Porsche (yes I know it's not exactly correct but you see my point).
A few years ago, a bike mag raced a 500cc bike generally used by learners, against a Subaru and the bike won.

Here's a great retro video of "Fast" Freddie Spencer racing hi 500cc MotoGP bike against a nasty 80s road bike and Nissan course car. Very cool, if only for the nostalgia:

I go to the drags a fair bit and to be honest, production cars, cannot get near superbikes over the 1/4 mile.

How about this then?Mick

I always find cars that can match superbikes incredible - fair play to the Porsche topping 200!
I'd love to see an Underground TT Lambo against the quickest superbikes - would be much more fair on the car!

Have a browse through their videos they have plenty of good races

That makes sense.
But if it actually accelerates faster at higher speed in a higher gear, the torque at the wheel must be higher, so the propensity to lift the front wheel must be higher too.
As said, I can only gather than this means the bike would be even faster than we see in that video if he'd got the nose back down and opened it up
But instead, it was fast enough even with the front wheel up, and looked cool hehe...

I think that was a big assumption by the previous poster, I've not seen anything to support that. But if it actually accelerates faster at higher speed in a higher gear, the torque at the wheel must be higher, so the propensity to lift the front wheel must be higher too.

A bike is more likely going to want to wheelie when opening the throttle at lower rpm than peak torque (i.e. while torque is rising); for example, my R1 would try to lift on full throttle before 7K, but if you opened it up after passing that it would just propel you towards the horizon with the front wheel on the floor (on a quick dyno chart google, the torque curve is fairly level from 7Kish to 9Kish, where peak torque is produced).
Just for interest, this chart shows thrust curves for a 1098R and a Honda Fireblade in respective gears:

Question is... what road car can keep up with the bike to 120.. Caterham R600, Radical, Atom V8, GRP B RS200.....
Nope, not any of those. For someone called 'Biker's Nemesis', you're very pro-bike.
Cracking vid...In 30 years of bike riding, the only car thats run me close top end wise was a modified Porsche of some description, I was riding a Gen 1 Hayabusa with around 160 rear wheel HP.
However, in the real world, as the video backs up, we dont have 2 mile straights and it was only the fact that I did hang back behind the car to let it build speed that made it close, from a standing start it wouldnt have been a race as the car would never have caught up...a "top" superbike with do 180MPH in 15 seconds and in UNDER a mile, a qtr of a mile in 10ish and around 150MPH.....its a gap 99.9% of cars wont make up.

I reckon the Atom V8 would make a good show of it, if Ariel's claim of "less than 2.3" to 60 is true.

I've not tried an Atom V8 against a 1000cc bike but I have against in a 2011 Civic S/C Atom.For someone called 'Biker's Nemesis', you're very pro-bike.
Its a long story with my name, I do like cars and bikes in equal measures though.
I will add that its relatively easy to drive a fast car harder than it is a bike, I'd say 70% of drivers could get near a cars limit where you'd be looking at 10% for bikers and their steeds.
Any Monkey can drive a car fast. (thats a joke for Mr H BTW)

Must be close, it's not far off in power to weight at least lol.For someone called 'Biker's Nemesis', you're very pro-bike.
For the car to have a chance it needs to be something like a tuned GT-R, or 911 turbo, something with traction. A GT-R with 700bhp should be rather quick off the line.
I remember an American drag race vid of a GT-R, Veryon and Aventator, and the big lambo managed 10.x 1/4 mile, that would make it rather close.
