Funny you should say that, since you work for Supercar Lifestyle.

I will play Devil’s Advocate, just for a minute, and point out that in my experience people who run companies working through spam, email scams and so on usually genuinely don’t see what they are doing as wrong. They think it’s just business and don’t understand why people are getting annoyed with them.

I can't really add much but would agree with above - seems that Evo have taken their eyes off the ball and not done a good job of covering up.

I'll take a lot more convincing that this is a genuine prize, it absolutely isn't and Evo would do well to say something more along the lines of "yep, we've cocked up, sorry about that". People shouldn't be judged on the mistakes they make, but they should be judged on how they put it right. In that regard, I don't this has been handled at all well.

To be fair to EVO, Geoff has said that they didn't know about this happening. I'd be very surprised if they sanctioned it and said "yeah fine, email everyone and thell them they've won one of the runner up prizes and then when they call up ask them for £199 to pay for it".

Just don't see it.

If I was Harry I'd be livid, and pulling EVO's contract with them. On the face of it the Supercar lot have taken the p155.
I don't disagree. My reasoning is that it was either lazy or deceptive, neither of which impresses me when people are dealing with my personal details.

Thanks for sticking your head above the parapet.

It isn't 4 hours tuition though is it, if you are sharing the car with 2 other people, then statistically you will only get time for less than 2 hours?

As has been said numerous times on this thread, if you had offered it for what it is, straight up, then there would not be a problem. The issue is that you LIED, suggesting people had won something and that it was a prize. Neither was true.

As a neutral observer (the novelty of EVO magazine wore off a long, long time ago) without an axe to grind it does appear to me that there has been sharp practice taking place here and this post, by a bloke connected to them, just makes it far, far worse.

Something is rotten in the state of Primark.

I've been to one of SCL's track days at MIRA, whatever any of you do, DO NOT pay, DO NOT go.

I booked a deal through Groupon for a 'full day', plus I paid extra on an upsell phone call to drive a Gallardo, which wasn't there, felt very cheated as it was specifically sold to me - they called me, I didn't call them.

The 'full day' turned out to be a couple of hours by the time I finally got my allocation time through. That is, it's a couple of hours of waiting around and a few minutes in the cars. I've never seen anything as disorganised or frustrating, getting pople in the cars in any sort of order was a shambles. It doesn't even begin to compare with places like Thruxton, where you can get a great day on a great track for your £200. I ended up getting half of my money back as it was so poor at MIRA with SCL.

I've been to quite a few track days, both in my own cars and also experience days. SCL are by far and away the worst, plus the SCL track at MIRA or, to more accurately describe it, the area marked out with cones in the centre of the proving ground, was a joke. Very narrow, difficult to sight, generally not very enjoyable.

Don't part with your money for it.

Plus, oddly enough, this £200 insurance they're saying you HAVE to purchase was being upsold on the day I went, only it was £30 and optional - it's got nothing to do with MIRA...

If I was EVO I'd be backing well away from SCL.

For the sake of balance, has any customer of SCL got anything good to say about the experience?

Poor show initially, but the (official) response so far is worse.

Evo - get it together before you end up being permanently associated with these schemes, rather than just this one mess. The earlier email has completely the wrong tone.

I would be genuinely interested to hear - my views are obviously just my experience of SCL as a business and the product they provide, I did give them some feedback about it, I didn't rant. I'd like to think they'e improved, but the way they've gone about this 'competition' seems to indicate otherwise.
