love that but please tell me you did some work to the brakes too
Its based on the lwb 3500 kg panel van so has the larger wheels and brakes already. Current ducatos only have an extra 10mm diameter on the front and the same size caliper , rear discs would probably make matters worse given how much I get out of the drums compared to discs Loving the mk2 and mk2F Polo Breadvans!!!!
I've nearly finished my own little Polo breadvan build which was originally intended to be a daily drive but it has got a bit out of hand.
Engine:
1.4 16v AFH 100hp standard
P&P head + throttle body
ported 4 branch exhaust, into decat into stainless Polo G40 exhaust
remapped ECU
Piper Cams
adjustable vernier
Wizard of NOS 50hp nitrous system
Polo G40 fuel tank and pump set up.
without NOS the motor should make 130hp
Chassis:
Custom coilovers with gaz inserts
mk2 Golf GTI 16v 256mm front brakes
mk2 Golf GTI 16v 226 rear disc conversion with mk4 golf alloy calipers
Adjustable brake bias compensator
PPP Custom rose jointed adjustable subframe an dogbone mount
G40 anti roll bar
Polo G40 Cup car rear axle with uprated mounts and roll bar
14x6 OZ Fittipaldis - uber rare....
Shell:
1981 Polo mk2 - very early car which started life as a 1093cc base model weighing in at nearly 700Kg in ready to go full of fuel/fluids etc form.
Even allowing for the larger engine/bigger brakes/fuel tank by removing all the sound deadening, removing spare wheel, back windows plastic but still running standard front and rear seats we should still be no more than 750kg area but with over 4 times the power!

I had a totally sttandard looking MK1 golf years ago.
However it had a 250bhp G60 engine in it
Very good!!However it had a 250bhp G60 engine in it
It takes quite a lot to get a G60 to 250 (reliable) horse power - 2.0 bottom end, stage 4 charger tiny 65mm pulley, headwork and cam among other tasty bits?
My G60 is largely standard at the moment but I have SNS stage 5, Shrick Cam, 70mm VW motorsport pulley and BBM charger outlet to strap on over the next few weeks. This should be good for 200-215

Absolutely not.
Really ! A sleeper (US English) or Q-car (British English) is a car that has high performance and an unassuming exterior.Sleeper cars are termed such because their exterior looks little or no different from a standard or economy-class car.
The XT looks identical to the whole UK Forester range so fits the glove above perfectly

Some of the little Polo's however, are firmly in the sleeper camp. Can I have a go guys?

Is that 'high performance'? The intercooler opening makes it look a bit different, although it doesn't necessarily mean it's quick, My 114bhp 4x4 has a bonnet scoop.A sleeper (US English) or Q-car (British English) is a car that has high performance and an unassuming exterior.Sleeper cars are termed such because their exterior looks little or no different from a standard or economy-class car.

But it's marginally quicker to 60 than a 330d, purely due to traction, and it's quite a bit less powerful, and slower when on the move.
Is a 330d a sleeper? I don't know.
I'd say a definitive no on performance and looks.

I've got to agree a Forester with a scoop most people know what it is and on the move the performance isn't all that impressive even if it can achieve a decent 0-60 time thanks to its 4WD.

The 2.5 XT with 255bhp from the factory approved performance pack is quick! I'd say a definitive no on performance and looks.
Non-petrolheads don't expect a soft roader to go quite quick as the XT does. Even my slightly chaved up Forester surprises a lot of people.
to most people the Forester looks like a Rav4

330hp fiat coupe turbo.
For some reason lots of people seem to think these were only fitted with the Brava HGT engine? Although most PH'ers would probably know that the 20vt is fairly nippy in standard form.
Suprised various things.
Top car, Ive always liked these and even in standard form they have very respectable performance. For some reason lots of people seem to think these were only fitted with the Brava HGT engine? Although most PH'ers would probably know that the 20vt is fairly nippy in standard form.

I do like these cars, well I would as fellow Subaru owner (RB5)
Used to run an old Fiat Panda with an Uno turbo engine, was good fun until it exploded in typical Italian style.. Had stlightly bigger steelies to go over the bigger brakes but other than that no clue from the outside, used to toast the 106 GTi's and Saxo VThings.. it even cornered reasonably well with the spax sus kit. Ah good times!
Would love to put another sleep together. I have an old SRi Corsa laying around. Suggestions please?

Not mine but I drove this to work this morning. Looks pretty crap and dull but it’s a Chevrolet Impala (North American equivalent to a Vauxhall Omega) but FWD (boo)!
However, a 3.6 V6 with 300bhp makes it quite a sleeper and somehow it manages to put down the power effectively through just the front wheels even in the wet.
The new Impala has the same engine but looks less sleeperish (a bit like a 4 door Camaro).
This Buick Verano is also quite the sleeper. The average Buick driver is about 75 years old, so you wouldn’t expect this to have a 2.0 turbo engine with 250bhp (not a massive figure) but 260 lb ft of torque from 2000rpm means that this is quite the flying machine!
