This is utterly gorgeous!
Just don't understand why you'd go to great lengths to get the standard of the bodywork so high and then screw some nasty blow moulded black plastic wheel arches on. Flare them properly! Get some metal and get forming.
Agree with that entirely. A delicious car utterly ruined by terrible plastic wheelarch extensions. Just awful. Shame.

Were the arches not a crazy jap mod from years ago? Could someone not just photoshop this to get it looking smoother?

That's exactly how the factory-built 240ZG was, and it's what that car is trying to look like.

Sort of - that's a bit too racer like (duh!) but yes more of a rework of the whole wing. There was a perfect example on here some time back in a similar blue to the original one above but despite a fair amount of time spent I've managed to fail to find it.

Trommel - fair point, just think they look bloody awful and with the rest of the car made to look so good I would want to go for finish over originality if I'm modifying.

I think I like this but some people are not so sure (a wide car made even wider!)

But thats part of the cars heritage, it may look wrong to you but it adds to the cars over all authenticity. I think its looks fantastic, flared arches are just adding more weight and modifying the car to something totaly different from the original imo

May or may not appeal to everyone:

Want a brand new car that has been out of production for 6 years? Go to the Toyota parts counter and order it in bits! The owner fitted a TRD3000GT body and swapped the twins for a bigger single turbo, the attention to detail on this car makes that VXR-Marc chap look like a lazy unwashed pikey. Deserves a thread of it's own.

Any more info? Linky?

Cheers
God, that's gorgeous. Smooth and understated - really makes the design look superb.

And I never liked Supras until now...

1: "decently modified cars" 2: "part of the cars heritage.... adds to the cars over all authenticity... different from the original"

Not really compatible, no? wink

Modified from standard, authentic to what the race cars were wearing at that time.

The main reason 6R4 replicas get slated is that they look daft. A "normal" Metro is far too short, and looks stoopid when faired up as a 6R4. Same as replica Cossies...
I'm fairly confident they are the same length. At least without the aero. confused

I am not sure if it was the target of the car in the original image, but I think it may be in relation to-

That car is called 'Devil Z' and is the hero car in a Japanese Anime Cartoon called Wangan Midnight, where the car was built ages ago, when those plastic bubble arches were fitted to loads of Japanese cars as a mod. I personally think they look funky but I totally agree the original designer of the 240Z would probably have vomited when he saw people doing that to his car.

Very nice car that Cossie but its only had a set of Rondell's, its hardly a modified car is it?
It sits completely differently to a standard Escort Cosworth and has a different exhaust. My Lancia looked fairly standard apart from the wheels but it was far from standard, I suspect the Escort has been modified in a similar vain and I love it.

As has been said, they're what the 240ZG had, along with the long nose with plastic headlight fairings.

Ah cool, didn't see your original post! Designer probably didn't vomit that much then.
