RE: Chris Harris video: GT2 RS vs Panigale part 2

I've got to say this does give unfair ammo to the bikes are faster than cars crew. A comment used with similar broad ignorance to any of the comments being disputed here.
I've twice surprised mid range fast bikes in big cars at bigger speeds. It does take a very big bike to maintain the difference from the 80-90 rolling start speed of a sliproad for example. I've even stopped to chat to a 2006 r1 rider afterwards who was very impressed by an at the time already 10 year old Cerbera.

Velogee a Porsche gt2 is not exactly a veyron is it!
Put the Porsche up against a s1000rr or any delimited jap 4 cylinder hyper bike and it will get beaten on that runway, why are you surprised at bike being so quick? They weigh nothing (circa180kg) and make between 170 and 210hp these days .
not that the bike was quick in acceleration (that's a given) but that at high speeds (140+) it continued pulling....clearly they now produce enough power to punch holes through the thick air.Put the Porsche up against a s1000rr or any delimited jap 4 cylinder hyper bike and it will get beaten on that runway, why are you surprised at bike being so quick? Never mind the bike, I'd like to race this against Harris' Porsche, cost a fraction of the price and you're more likely to be let out at junctions*. Fancy it, Chris ? Loser buys the bacon butties ?
*The road-legal version, this one's a bit not-road-legal.
Outcome of that would be that you probably will be showing the Porsche your heels until the aerodynamics/hp start to work at which point he'll catch up (just like with the bike). Seen it more than once when I had my Honda Elise.*The road-legal version, this one's a bit not-road-legal.
Erm think this has already been mentioned a few times but the bikes have been restricted to 300km/h or 184.62mph for a few years now
Im not saying the Ducati would pull much more but if its flat out stuff your testing it does cap this bike in this test
To have the governer bypassed is a £20 job
Im a petrol head for bikes & cars so dont care what wins what...Im just saying...

I know there are faster top end bikes out there, but the Panigale is just beautiful, and looks utterly ballistic accelerating down that runway. Want one !!! I'm neither anti-car or anti-bike, just pro anything fast ! This from former Ducati owner & current Porsche owner (not GT2 RS unfortunately !), so have a foot in both camps !

This doesn't apply to all bikes, and although I did believe the Panigale to be restricted, I've not found any evidence to support it. Japanese manufacturers have a gentleman's agreement to limit their bikes to 300kph, but MV didn't bother with that when they released the F4 1000 R 312 (312 referring to the average top speed in kph over a recorded run at Bonneville Salt Flats). You'd think the Panigale is restricted, especially as it claims an extra 12bhp over the F4 and 7kg less ('claims' being the operative word there).
Been out "repping" in my TVR today in Worcestershire, a nice heater and a stereo, much nicer than my GSXR in these temps, and here it is doing a 10.7 qtr, as quick as most Superbikes?

The car in my sig goes 10.1 on the motor. from the factory, it would probably have run low 13's on road tyres.
Most bikes i see at the strip, dont 60 ft very well, which knocks their et down a little but their terminal speeds are always good.
I'm not trying to start a pissing contest, i was a big biker for years and have a general interest in most performance vehicles. I choose old american iron because i've always liked muscle cars, preferably mopars.

Not very surprised the bike won in a straight line, but as soon as you add some corners the car cuts down the gap nicely, and you see this all the time on tracks like the Ring, That bike must be putting out 800, 900Bhp Per Ton.
I'm quicker through the twisties on my bike than either my old M3 or M5, you need to really have an understanding of how quick some people are on bikes. HOLY fkING ROCKING HORSE st

I'd imagine that R1 rider was a bit ghey and the riders you've met were riding a bit ghey.I've twice surprised mid range fast bikes in big cars at bigger speeds.
