Dangerous comparison - the odds are both watches will tell you the time pretty accurately and reliably.

One could argue that cars are really ultimately only about getting from point A to point B and watches are just for telling time. But here's another big problem with trying to justify the 300k Singer vs. a really nice old 30k 911 by using a watch comparison: you can just open up the rear lid on either car and see they're powered by the same basic engine, the basic car structure is pretty much the same, and its driving characteristics are basically the same. Can you open up a 500k watch and see that it has the same basic movement, made initially by the the same manufacturer as the 500 watch? Does it have the same basic structure? Are its working characteristics basically the same?
On another note, I think like most people on here, I'm still thinking a lot about this car. It really inspires my imagination.
It would be an interesting exercise to figure out a rough comparison of how much all these bits and pieces would cost to apply to a 964 donor car, with the owner doing as much work as possible themselves. What would it cost to do a virtually identical car to a Singer if you are minus the bank account draining costs of shop hours and their profit margin?

And not because Rob Dickinson used to be lead 'singer' with Catherine Wheel? (Not many people appear to know this).

Sorry to say but those prices are ex-factory I imagine? Wouldn't there be import duty and Vat to be added to register the car in the UK, unless you supplied Singer with UK car and waited 1 year while they transformed it, then just said it had been on holiday at customs, I suppose.
I get the feeling that the are all bespoke cars and you have to supply the, with a car to begin with.shoestring7 said:

Isn't this similar to what Paul Stephen's Autoart has been doing for some time? A 3rd of the price, still bespoke so you could get pretty close and buy one of those Alfa GTA-r's!
