RE: Flaming GT3s - owners bite back
Discussion
Without a word of a lie.
Last month my Step Dad got a Porsche 911 Carrera S for the weekend (lend from Porsche).
Car was a 14 plate (see below)
40 odd miles later, this was the end result -
Car wouldn't start and ended up getting taken away on a trailer the next again day.
£100k + car with only a few hunderd miles on it. Would I buy a Porsche? No chance.

It never ceases to amaze me that Porsche do not understand that Customer Service is a vitally important part of their business, regardless of the overall quality of their engineering. Having just been through a similar loop with a 991C2S and having had issues with 986 and 987 Boxsters, I am now at the point of looking at other manufacturers and would encourage others to do the same unless they are prepared to suffer the stupidities of the Porsche system. To balance this view I have to say that my current 991 is everything they say on the box and is just a delight

See your point but surely this happens all the time, whilst it's hardly acceptable it's only just been put together? It wouldn't put me off the car for life.Last month my Step Dad got a Porsche 911 Carrera S for the weekend (lend from Porsche).

I have a brand new M135i, which in its first few months has had a couple issues which have been an inconvenience, but they have fixed it and now it's fine - life goes on.

I don't see why customers who haven't taken delivery of the car should be compensated.
Maybe they should get a cracking deal (I.e free servicing when the car has been delivered etc) but to receive money each day from Porsche is ridiculous.
Isn't that called a "Crackling" deal.........Maybe they should get a cracking deal (I.e free servicing when the car has been delivered etc) but to receive money each day from Porsche is ridiculous.

Because the deposit / payment isn't working for you whilst it sat there, is it? Maybe they should get a cracking deal (I.e free servicing when the car has been delivered etc) but to receive money each day from Porsche is ridiculous.
You either have the car, or you have the money and the opportunity in the time this delay amounts to do have it do something for you, even if sat in a low interest bank account.
The nice lady at Porsche says that the extended warranty is NOT the end of any compensation, and that an appropriate 'customer (bad) experience package' will be offered in due course. She also said that the mention of the warranty had done more harm than good, as owners understandably took this to be the extent of Porsche GB's offering. However, she also said that Porsche GB could give no firm estimate of the 'time to fix' for cars, so I can only speculate that talk of it possibly being months may be correct.
And on that basis, my decision to go for the refund is made.

You are given a date when your car is to be delivered to you....there is a contract in terms of offer and acceptance, it's not open ended i.e. I pay you this amount, my car is delivered/promised to me on this date. If it is not delivered, for whatever reason, it is the responsibility of the manufacturer to rectify/compensate this. In the same way with construction you tender for a contract and guarantee to deliver the finished product on a certain date, if you don't hit that date you have fine and penalty clauses as the original contract has been breached. Jaguar XJ220 customers learnt the hard way when they did not pin down exact delivery dates at time of deposit etc.Maybe they should get a cracking deal (I.e free servicing when the car has been delivered etc) but to receive money each day from Porsche is ridiculous.
I have not been partied to contracts in buying GT3's and this is effectively a recall after intial delivery date so I'm not sure where the consumer stands. Might need one of the legal guys to comment on this but it is still awful customer service that Porsche aren't offering all paid up consumers another car or equal compensation.

try dealing with lotus customer service, i played that game several times <snip>
jaguars customer service on the other hand is spectacular
Is this recent experience of Lotus? My experience of them has been amongst the best of any manufacturer (including Jaguar Land Rover who I agree are excellent). Maybe it's because I'm lucky enough to be near the factory, but they've sent a warranty approval guy out to meet me personally, test drive my car and approve a replacement gearshift cable in response to a satisfaction survey I returned. And their engine specialist came out when I queried the popping sound that the variable lift inlet valve setup was making.jaguars customer service on the other hand is spectacular
All work done under warranty and on a car that has been serviced by an Indy and with no great scrutiny of the engine ECU log. Can you imagine Porsche doing this?
I bought another Land Rover because they've always looked after me. I'll buy another Lotus for exactly the same reason.
