Hippy crap. A prius of the 1980s. Driven by right-on hippies who thought they were saving the planet.
The sandalistas may have adopted it in the 80s but the 50s target audience was French folk on a budget who didn't always have access to roads. It served their needs admirably for decades.

Boat Tail Alfa Spider ?

Surely a car every petrolhead will have thought about owning, just so pretty.

You can't stop there!

And getting out of the car is just damned dangerous.

I don't think I've heard (well, read) any hate for the F355? generally seems regarded as the last truly beautiful Ferrari. Could be wrong mind.
Ludicrous driving position, so I never got to find out what they were like! Not sure that counts as hate though just because I can't drive it; that would be like hating Jessica Alba smile

I think it would be easier to find the one car that everyone on PH hates.

A Picasso. A car marketed to middle-aged women, with no curb appeal at all.

Stand up and be counted any PHer that DOES NOT hate them.

As for the holy grail of one that nobody hates, I'd suggest a mk2 escort harrier, with tunned cosworth engine would probably be the only thing we'd agreed wasn't to be hated.

Might be a generational thing but I've always thought these looked rubbish. Same with the Daimler Dart/DP250.

I can't see how anyone can hate the MK1 Focus either, I remember they looked like they fell from space when they arrived!

My nominations- Rover P5? Old and classy without being pretentious IMO. I guess terminally dull for some though.

Golf/Pug 205 GTI?

Dino? How could anyone hate this?

Not being funny, but in my 20's I despised balding blokes who owned TVR's. Mind you 20 years later and I despise 20 year olds in shagged out fiesta's.

The car is great. Would love to experience one. But don't want to own one.

Beautiful, and apparently superb to drive (I've got a test somewhere where it comes out on top against a 968, and that was and still is hailed as a superb handling car). I'm sure the rotary engine's caused a bit of hatred to some poor owners in the past though...

Can't believe the love here for the NSX. It oozes everything that's bad about Japanese car design. Truly truly awful.

Gosh, I've not heard that criticism before, other than the interior being a bit drab. The handling is astonishingly good, the gearchange amazing, the engine just lovely. If you read into the design and engineering of the Mclaren F1 you'll see not only was the NSX a key benchmark, but in a raft of objective measures that Mclaren took in the R&D phase, the NSX comes out on top compared to pretty much every other supercar they analysed. Finally, I actually love the design - timeless and understated.

I've no doubt its a great car to drive but I hate the "whale tail" style proportions, it's like they just gave up once the first two thirds of the car was drawn. And those rear light clusters laugh Timeless design it is not. Compare and contrast to an Aston V8 Vantage Coupe which is just about as perfectly designed and propotioned as you can get.

To answer the OP - no, I don't think there is a single car that no one on PH hates. Besides, f we all liked the same things the world would be a very boring place.

Haven't seen any Beetles yet, they were one of the best selling cars of all time.
There is no car one PHer will not like. Hate is a bit strong. Thats why its such a good forum.
Heres a sports Beetle, its very inoffensive, which I think is as close as you will get with a thread like this.
No, Saab 99 turbo. Has that been done yet? Sporty Beetle and a Saab.

Beethles? Can't stand them, horrible little Nazi cars.

If we're talking purely about the design, and being a driving enthusiast it's more (over 90%) about the drive for me, but if we are just looking at the design, then it is indeed very personal and I must confess I prefer the NSX to the Aston. I rather like the long tail actually; I find it visually balances the car out.

My only negatives for the NSX are the steering, which is a bit too slow and lifeless for me, and the driving position, which even in the last models I found too straight arm and bent leg for my liking. Another thing is the boot - contrary to what was said earlier I think every car deserves a decent boot to go on holiday in the car or on long trips, the only exception possibly being a track only car (but even then I miss the boot on my 2-Eleven as I need to take things to a track day!). If the steering and driving position were sorted to my liking and the boot perhaps 30% bigger, and perhaps it has another 50bhp, the NSX would be my perfect car.

It's such a shame that the Japanese no longer make nimble ME/RWD supercars like the NSX - Honda were exceptionally good at it (just read the Mclaren F1 book that I mentioned earlier!), and I suspect the likes of Toyota and Nissan would be as well. The NSX and LFA are probably two of the very best cars ever made. Heh, that's a suggestion: who could hate the LFA?...
