Any makes you would never buy?
Discussion
Anything French but specifically Shtroen Picassos and Renault Kangoos. Starting to get irrationally angry when I see them pulling out ahead or coming from the right at a roundabout because I can guarantee that the driver will be older, have given up on life and either dawdle everywhere or be plain dangerous.
To buy and drive one of these cars marks you out as an idiot imo.
ETA: Had to laugh this morning. On my commute I got sandwiched between a a Citroen Picasso (who'd pulled out in front of me at the last roundabout) thing in a rather fetching shade of puke green and a lad on a scooter who was not happy to sit in traffic. It had been raining and the wind was gusty too. As we went into a village, I pulled to the left and made room for the scooter to get past. The Citroen then stopped behind a car waiting to turn right and hadn't seen the scooter, so stayed to the right of the lane. The scooter rider decided to squeeze between the Citroen and the grass, hit a nice muddy patch and spun out/fell off in slow motion. Straight into the passenger door of the Citroen.
Two drivers that deserve each other!

Some responses here are laughable! It's interesting how dealer experiences taint car ownership.
Cars I would never buy are Great Wall and Korean, just personal preference. I think these days all established manufacturers can deliver a reliable product. I have had Renaul and Peugeot in the past and never had any trouble, perhaps I was lucky.
I have a gut feeling that if you are buying a cheap 2nd French car you are buying because it's cheap and it has probably not been looked after well and you probably don't look after it as well as a more expensive car, then, surprise surprise you have to call AA...
My cars have been very reliable, including an Alfa 156 which only problem was a bad lambda sensor gone at 115k...if anything my German cars have been less reliable... I agree Mercedes customer service is very poor and I have tried 4 different dealerships for same standard (poor) service. BMW not too bad experience. Had an Audi S3 and again never had any trouble...
Anyway, fingers crossed I will keep having reliable cars... But no Koreans or Chinese for me.

Always hated Fords, especially the "fast" ones. The image of mulleted blokes (and women) in Capris and XR3s has stuck with me for decades. I've never even set foot in a Ford dealers. Can't see that change anytime, ever.
Jaguar too. Don't really hate them, just a bit to "Golf Club car park" for me. Confident I'll never own one.

Throughout my formative years my father always said he would "Never buy a Ford" never questioned it and don't know what brought him to this conclusion. He never bought a Ford and, as far as I can recall, none of his sons have ever bought one either! This came to mind recently when, after some appalling customer service I decided I would never buy another Mercedes Benz.
Anyone made any similar decisions and, if so, what makes?

I'll never buy another Honda MotorcycleAnyone made any similar decisions and, if so, what makes?

Yeah in hindsight I should have never bought a V4 Honda.....
Ford, my great grandad referred to them as cheap old Ford, none of my family since have owned one. For a man I never met, I've got a lot of respect for his opinion on cars. From the slides of his I've scanned, he drove a Vauxhall Wyvern, PA Cresta, Jaguar Mk X and a Rolls Royce Silver Shadow. He was certainly a car enthusiast and I'd say any of those were significantly better than what Ford had on offer at the time, and some of them at present!
Alfa, as much as I desire some of them.
Lancia, 'proper' or 'new'.
Audi, R8 aside. The missus' Q5 and neighbour's TTs both bore me far more than expected.
Fiat- due to a somewhat irrational hatred, still can't work out where/ when this started. Could possibly be talked into the new 128. Even the old coupe doesn't tickle me.
Anything Citroen/ Peugeot outside of 'classic' stuff like an eg. old DS. Badges are somehow very depressing to me, suspect I'd be happier in something Korean.

The only time I would say "never" is for some tripe brand like Perodua or Ssanyong, however you spell it - why anyone would buy something like that new is beyond me, frankly.
Out of all the mainstream manufacturers at the moment, probably Fiat - they offer absolutely nothing that I would want to own, currently.

Unfortunately for me, it's quite a list.....
Ford
Vauxhall
Peugeot
Renault
Citroen
Seat
Mercedes
Chrysler
Subaru
Maserati
VW
Lexus
Mitsubishi
Nissan
Honda (although I used to)
Alfa Romeo (could be considered sacrilege)
My list of would buys is quite restrictive to a certain extent......
Lotus
Porsche
Lamborghini
Ferrari
Caterham
Noble
Jaguar
TVR when they reappear
BMW
Audi
Skoda
Smart
Mini
Mazda
Toyota
Hyundai
Fiat
(And before someone states the obvious, I know there are parent group cross overs on both lists)
My reasoning on both lists would probably upset many people so I'll decline to explain.

For me, anything Korean, not sure why, every time I see them launching a new car I am like:
Not as in "not sure if serious" but more "What is this? This isn't right? I don't trust this, I'll pass"
Can you guys give me specific reasons you would not buy a Hyundai?
I own an imported 2013 Genesis 3.8. RWD, 8 speed, 350bhp, 0-60 in the high 4 second range, beautiful leather work on the interior, you can actually fit a person in the back seat, fit and finish is as good as any BMW, Lexus or Mercedes I have owned and to top it all off, it has a 5 year/100k powertrain warranty. It has easily been the most reliable car I have ever owned (and I have owned over 40 vehicles)
For me the only vehicle I refuse to buy is a Audi or VW outside of warranty range. I love Audi's, but after my last one, there is no way I want to own one without warranty, and I have had friends with pretty new Passats and Golfs that have problem after problem.

Im guessing no, because this is Pistonheads and pretending anything but German is inferior and anything French will explode and kill you matters.fivepointnine said:

The people who built it probably eat dogs.fivepointnine said:

It's probably dog leather.
