A Knight Rider K.I.T.T. Red scanner light!

My mate installed one in his XR2i back in the day.

It was so naff, but also so epically cool!

Polished alloy rocker covers, chrome cover that slipped over the coil, chrome or polished alloy covers that slipped over SU carbs (assume you all know what SU carbs are wink ), those big plastic wind deflectors that fitted into the drivers side front window, stick on compasses & ashtrays, plastic instrument binnacles and chrome extra switch panels (for the new spotlights), quick/short shift gearstick kits, and those spotlights that the blue bit in the middle smile

Oh, and radial tyres so you could go round corners quicker biggrin
I was a Stromberg man biggrin
SU "constant depression" carbs wink

Webers or DellOrtos here.
Had twin 40DCOE's on the Cosworth lump in the 7 (circa 1969) and twin SU's on the Cooper S which replaced it when small wriggly daughter thing arrived in '72 biggrin

Never had Strombergs... sounds like beer nowadays... Er, I'll have a pint of Stromberg please biggrin

Those were the days eh?

Old Dutch bloke has had one on his camper at Le Mans for at least 15 years, it's something we always look for when we arrive

When I get my camper I'm getting one in his honour

Of course you know what SU stands for - without Google's help of course!

Putting CD's on the front of your car to scramble the laser from speed camera vans:

Turns out it makes it easier for the vans to have something flat and shinny to reflect the laser off (that's why the usually aim for the number plate)!

Not a million miles away, as I'm sure you imply...

More a junction of dermatologists perhaps?

The good old drill holes in the air box for that cheap ass induction noise?

I was wondering whilst reading through this thread if a lot of these mods still exist but we've all grown up a tiny bit and moved on to cars that don't require such mods as a peco exhaust and extra spoilers?

'Sporty' Wheel trims?
Chrome wheel arches?
Bead seat covers?
As they are still a 'cool' idea & I couldn't care less if they are fashionable or not I fitted my set 'beaded seat covers' this week & they make for a very cool backside & back when driving in hot weather, even if air con. is on.
A million Mediterranean taxi drivers can't be wrong.

I have a pink furry dice which I hang from the mirror of a very expensive sports car when on display at car shows. My way of sticking two fingers up to the judges & the sad anoraks who love picking out faults & non-standard fittings & generally take it all too seriously.

I doubt anyone fits the basic screw adjustment bleed valves on turbo cars anymore.

From memory of the old Renault 5 GT turbo I bought in the late '90's they were rarely setup correctly even by some specialist tuners or were badly fitted on the drive with the boost adjusted so high it was rarely surprising when things went bang soon after.

Edit - turns out cheap ones are still sold on eBay for exactly the same purpose of badly adjusting and then blowing your car up laugh

I may have done this on my old R5 GTT and may have been very experienced in fitting head gaskets. smile
