yes Warp factor 9 just isn't fast enough!

Also came across this earlier, looks a nice example. 740i £2,995.

I believe this has appeared on the thread before. No mention of any of the usual E38 issues have been rectified. It's 1500 quid over priced.

these cars are awesome and that one looks a very nice example
Speaking from experience I see smile

A V8 Jag is definitely on my to do list, and hopefully soon.
Yes, I've had mine exactly a year. 100% reliable and you feel a million dollars every time you sit in the thing. I am considering having the supercharger upgrades to take it to warp factor 10 hehe
I doubt there's anywhere else in the world where such a nice car is available for so little. I wouldn't pick silver/cream but that's being picky. It's fantastic.

Little haggle, quick LPG conversion and you're leaving big 11s off every roundabout at 35mpg for £4k.

(for the record, neither my wallet nor testicles will stand for 11s anywhere)

Indeed.

There's always a "genuine reason for sale" even if you've just nicked it smile

I've yet to accidentally sell something.

The Jag does look nice, The advert might not be totally accurate though, it`s advertised as 120k which is fair enough, but it had 122k in 2011. Described as "mint" condition, last MOT advisories were, both inner front wings rusting and the front brake pipes corroding, brake pipes have been an advisory on the last few Mot`s, so I`ll take a guess that the wings haven`t been sorted since the MOT. It must have been sorned since 2011 judging by the mileage and lack of tests between 2011 and 2015. It`s had advisories in the past for other issues relating to rust, so maybe lived a life by the sea, hopefully not in it. More accurate ad would have been 123k one thousand of which have been done since 2011, and suffering some rust issues. Doesn`t sound as appealing as "mint" but probably a bit more accurate.

These X308 XJRs are plenty swift.
The X350s are comically rapid and the new X351 unnecessarily so biggrin

Gwan, you know you want to.

Unless you're holding out for a black one, of course. XJRs should always be black IMHO.

You'd need an LSD conversion too for the 11s.

One of the few cars I quite like in silver.

E65 745i is back and healthy after a hefty bit of work. Few other bits done like vacuum hoses etc.

DVLA have granted my licence and say I'm good to go woohoo

However....they're still saying I must wait until December 1st to drive. Both my surgeon and my local MP are still fighting my case....I'm not going down without a fight!! Want to get behind the wheel again, and there's no reason to make me wait another 6+ weeks for absolutely no reason at all!!

These jags do rust in fairly predictable places (just about all old jags do) and at the age of this car you would need to decide if you're going to bother fixing the rot. If you just want to enjoy a swift old jag for very little money, you drive it, spend nothing and eventually bin it/part it out. If you're keeping it for a bit, then all the rust is easily dealt with (if its not too bad) and there's tons of spares, including immaculate wings etc available from specialist beakers at very good prices. Its a proper performance bargain that can be brought up to a very good standard for very little really. Only trouble is, once you start improving them you can't stop. They do get under your skin. wink

I agree with what you are saying, I just feel the ad could have a more honest description of the car. It`s annoying making the effort of going to view a car described as mint, to then view it and discover it is anything but. Luckily buyers now have the provision to check the cars MOT history online without having to contact the seller, which won`t totally avoid wasted journeys, but it can rule out some cars with little effort.

OK, as you lot won't stop talking about v8 Jag goodness I'll have to ask practical questions. How reliable are they, anything to watch for, and 4.0 or 4.2?

Spending committee has just approved chopping in my daily. Option 1 is back into company car scheme. Option 2 could be anything "suitable"....

I now have cracked paint on the bumper of the r129 - the second 'parking incident' I have come back to in a few months. Annoying.

Fortunately it's the same corner of the rear bumper as the last one. I have had 2 such incidents now in a few months and a fraction of the usage of the W124 - over 3 years in the W124 I have not had any such incidents.

I can only assume this is because the R129 is a lot lower and therefore disappears in a car mirror.
