Once read a post on a BMW forum where the guy had put 620k on his 6 series from new.
Just kept changing the usual parts, apart from that it never skipped a beat.
Cars like to be used. Especially sitting on the motorway at cruising speeds and light throttle. Most engine wear occurs on cold start up. A 3 year old car which had done 70mph for hours on end day after day will be in better nick mechanically than one which has been doing the school run and battling its way over speed bumps and fighting for space in the supermarket.Just kept changing the usual parts, apart from that it never skipped a beat.
My dad was telling me yesterday that the modern 6 cylinder BMW diesels run their glow plugs pretty much all the time nowadays compared to just start up like early diesels. Not sure how true that is but I know they struggle to get up to temperature. Which is why for start stop traffic round the city centre the diesel engine really isn't ideal unless its tiny and getting hammered.

Off topic but they also have a CAT D MINI advertised - http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2014...
Never seen anything like that before at a franchised dealer either! Looks like they just sell anything they can get their hands on.

I wonder how that came about, an unusual choice for so many miles.Yet another white Skoda, this one actually looks decent value...

New engine at 382k though, I thought PDs where better than that.

I thought courtesy car / customer taxi or just general workhorse for the dealership. Might explain why they trust it enough to sell it under their banner.
Dad had this as a courtesy car recently when he took his Superb in for a service - Clearly the dealer has never heard of 'upselling' In actual fact, it has about 10k more miles than the advert shows - they've been trying to flog it for about a year I think - It's not a surprise why either....

st website too, can't be that hard to get a Skoda franchise.
There were very few Skoda's on site (let alone the cars advertised on the website) - those that were there were older/higher mileage than a 'normal' Skoda dealer.Edited by Dalto123 on Friday 6th February 22:55
Just £4450 for this 2011 Passat with 228k on the clock - http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2015...
Proving to be a solid engine that, I've put 93k on one with no problems and starting to see huge mileage ex fleet and taxis coming though at 200k plus. There's an A1 in this thread with 141k on it.
That Passat could be a great buy for a taxi driver if the rest of the car is in good shape.

I'm sure they're good cars, but my God they look crap inside and out compared to a Bentley or Rolls-Royce. Or even the BMW 760 he bought to replace it.
Its the 'toffee wood' trim that does it. If it was a darker shade then it would look a lot better imo.Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
