There’s the age old argument about rawness Vs age, in that anything modern just isn’t as involving to drive. I personally disagree with this, as you only need to look at the current Lotus, Renaultsport, BMW range to find out they are astonishing both on the road and on the track.

Don't be so obtuse.

Megane R26.R, 265, Clio 200, Even the wee Twingo.
BMW's new 1M, the CSL's both old and new.

You're pickin holes that needn't.

It depends on what type of road. Modern cars seem to be set up very stiffly. I have both an R26.R and NSX so have experience of both. I can't see how the 1M is as involving to drive - maybe the engine is completely different to the N53 in my BMW.

I fail to understand why you queried my last comment and then state that you own a Renaultsport model.

Regardless of this, cars, like music, women etc are all down to personal preference. 45k for an old NSX is 'imo' obscene, but then again i bought a Clio V6 which in the majorities view is an overpriced, bodykitted Clio with a Laguna engine.

It's not an exact science.

Agreed that is all down to personal preference. I guess the point I am making is that the NSX is still very special to drive, and for a road trip, I would choose that over the R26.R - primarily for the NSX's engine. For track, R26.R would be the choice.

And funnily enough I agree.

Just back from 2,500 miles in the NSX and it was superb - Autoroute cruising at 85mph in quiet and comfort, Swiss alpine passes despatched with aplomb*, Autobahn-storming at 120+ sustained for as long as the traffic permitted (not long, sadly), and then a quick lap around the N'schliefe just because it's there.

Yet my ITR was probably a slightly better companion for the 'ring the last time I was there...but wouldn't have shone quite as much elsewhere in this trip.

The stock NSX is still a very good car - probably no better overall than e.g. a Cayman S nowadays, but certainly no worse, and it's a lot more interesting than a Porker - I wouldn't have had so much attention at the Lamborghini factory or at the N'ring in a Porker, nor would that car have "come up in conversation more than once" at the (Pistenklause) table of one of the guys driving an old F1 car at the GP-strecke this week, as my NSX did.

That's the standard NSX, which is quickly becoming a modern classic - no longer ultra-rapid, but quick enough and regarded for more than just speed or power. The -R is rarer, more focused and quicker - think 964RS, think CSL. So it WILL command a premium, and it WILL become a collectors item (already is, IMHO). If this car is as good as the service history appears, £45k now will seem like a good investment in a few years time...

* Slow steering aside, but you get used to it.

Could not agree more - and knowing the car and driving it and knowing the previous owner very well I can vouch for the car and its maintenance and condition from when he had it and honestly cant see the current owner neglecting it at all as he is a try enthusiast also (as would any potential buyer be) as to buy this you need to be in the know about these awesome, rare and exotic machines.

45k is a fair price for what its.

The euro-snobs on this thread talk hot air and think about paddle shifting strategy on their german sports wagen while doing spread sheets, as long as the NSX stays out of their hands then it remains a car for decent enthuasts.

I've got a fair few of it when I "met" it at JAE about 5 years ago with my S2000. I'll see if I can find them.
Forgot about this
As it turns out, I only had the one biggrin

"The Manga-esque illustrated NSX-R user's manual is also present"

This sounds really interesting to a geek like me, does anyone know where I'd be able to read one of these online? Long shot but just in case anyone does.

The Toyota Supra MK4 one is similar. Full of Japanese cartoon pictures with over the top expressions, sweat drips shooting out from the face, et cetera.
I think it's pretty typical for Jap stuff. Model helicopter/car stuff is similarly illustrated.

Well for the doubters.....for reference, one of the last 12 NSX sold in the UK just sold for >£80K.....more than the original price!!

Wonder it this NSX-R comes back on the market..how soon is it going to be sold if advertised for £90K??
