Maybe the champagne interior shows up wear and dirt more but that does not look like a drivers seat that has done 55k. On the high side in prce terms I feel even if it were a straight car with no cat c or cat d history.http://www4.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201...

also, will that be a 5 or 6 speed manual? i'm guessing 6....?
All E60s were six speed from the model's launch, whether manual or auto. The M5 is the exception with its seven cogs. As an early 530i, the car in the ad will be running the 231PS M54 B30 lump as the E39 530i, but with an additional cog.
So I'd expect the average economy to be similar at 28-32, with urban consumption around 20, but better economy at a cruise, late 30s-40ish.

The sure fire way to make another profit would be another W140, especially as I now know what buyers over here are looking for (chap who bought it wanted the cream interior and wheels) - however if I turn up with another W140 the Mrs. will certainly do her tits.
Therefore I think I may be heading in the direction of an E36 328 Touring.... however it all depends on whats available when I come back to the UK on Feb 14th.
Apologies as I may not have kept up with this thread but am I to summarise that you can sell a borked W140 for profit across the channel / North Sea? Therefore I think I may be heading in the direction of an E36 328 Touring.... however it all depends on whats available when I come back to the UK on Feb 14th.
Mine is pretty far from borked but the exhaust has started to rattle a lot and I won't be putting a new one on (£800 odd spend on a £1.5k car makes no sense)

bks.
It's a 24, with a high spec, 7 seats and FSH. Some vendors would throw it into a studio after a detail, couple of high contrast pics, before asking 6 large.
but, on the other hand, you can get a later S class for less money.......It's a 24, with a high spec, 7 seats and FSH. Some vendors would throw it into a studio after a detail, couple of high contrast pics, before asking 6 large.
Woody's right, that TE would be proper dosh at a specialist, provided it's in good shape.
What's a good BMW magazine to be reading then? Since I just bought an E39, something based in the last 25 years or so would be good, and keep me out of mischief, (or plotting the next step.)
I've always had a hankering for an E30 325i Touring, and like the E61 M5 Touring too. I would love to learn a bit more about Alpina too, as my knowledge is pretty limited in that area.
It would be good to know about the new stuff as it is released, but that wouldn't be my primary focus. I need to develop my beard.

several years ago i got given a book called "the complete book of BMW", it's a little out of date now (think 2004 ish) but it has shed loads of stuff in there, it's where a lot of my stubble comes from. IIRC it's pretty expensive though!I've always had a hankering for an E30 325i Touring, and like the E61 M5 Touring too.
