Just to stir things up a bit:
Its a UMM Alter.
A Portuguese utility vehicle that was made from the mid 60's through to the early 90's, initially only used for military service... later on sold to the general public. When i was a kid, an uncle of mine had one of these, on slightly raised suspension - it went most places!
Powered by a 2.5 litre Diesel engine that was produced by Peugeot. Not sure if that was a good thing, as i never drove one... but i recall it being pretty nippy!

Girlfriend's uncle has one, very odd thing. Noisy, smelly, not particularly fast (perhaps his driving). Interesting though. Its a UMM Alter.

I had a nose through the club newsletter once, it was slightly pitiful to be frank ("does anyone know what else I should write?") but good on them for keeping a tiny OC going

I remember those things. For some reason, I have it in my head that they're based on an old Landrover (109 or 110) chassis and underpinnings, although I might be remembering something else. Its a UMM Alter.

Latest Astra Saloon
Saw one today with a foreign plate on it. Probably the best rendering of a modern compact saloon car around at the moment, but we as a nation just don't value them.....
There's a reason why BMW, Merc and Audi relegated the hatch versions of their cars to lower model numbers - the rest of the world perceive them as downmarket (and us as pey for preferring them).
