I know we gave you the job anyway, but you might have saved an awful lot of CV writing, interviewing and test passing just by sending pictures of this as your application you know...

And then, in despair, you'd have phoned Auto Express and offered Riggers twice his previous salary?

For shame, Stuart, for shame. As if Garlick hasn't kicked the new guy enough with his tea boy jibes, you're telling him in public he's virtually unemployable. nono

That's excellent. Whatever anyone else says, you've won me over.

Ah, you misunderstand me. I meant that painting a Granada to look like Thunderbird 2 alone would've been enough to get the job...

I miss the Granada. Something big and floaty and manatee-ish about them, and you never see them any more.

I have a mk2 Escort with a hand-painted brown roof. I'd need £60k p/a to make the move worthwhile.

Bloody good effort Sir.

You weren't tempted to add stubby little wings and a massive spoiler?

Where did Thunderbird 4 / The Mole go?

In truth, I can't claim all the credit - mum and best mate both assisted with the painting process! The transformation was carried out using the finest Crown gloss (I believe the exact colour was something along the lines of Calypso Green) applied with paintbrushes for that 'I don't really know what I'm doing here' finish. The spot lights were added by us, too (not that you can tell from their jaunty angles).

The spoiler was definitely mooted (a plywood effort, I believe, was the plan), but time was a factor and it never got made!

Max - thanks chap!

Possibly the first time anyone has ever pined for a car because of its visual similarity to a sea cow?

Is he going to write something? I thought it was just tea and car painting.
