Sold our Audi Q5 3.0 S-line last night and putting down a deposit this morning on the diesel S.
Whatever people say it will be the car to have in around a years time FOR THOSE WHO CARE ABOUT WHAT OTHER PEOPLE THINK, RATHER THAN THE DRIVING EXPERIENCE once it has come to the attention of those private school run Mums which should hold up the initial residuals.

And you know that for certain?

Has it occurred to anyone people buy these for the same reason others buy their cars on here? Just because they like them?

I think for some people he has a point though.

I went through a phase of spunking a fortune on new cars on PCP's and I must admit I have a different perspective. Most new cars give me no pleasure these days.

Don't be so harsh on Axel350Z, its a perfectly good point he has observed. Car manufacturers these days have trained us all to want the next big thing. As a society we seem addicted to buying the newest and shiniest thing.

Anyway , this is OT.

The Macan is a VERY nice thing IMO. It will no doubt sell very well.

Quite an achievement: ugly and yet boring at the same time. And those contrasting side blades are the kind of cheap add on usually seen on warmed over shopping trollys. 1880-1925kg - no wonder they need to install engines with so much torque. Still , at least it has PTM and PDK electronics to offset the poor driving skills endemic within the SUV driver segment. They are going to sell loads of these.

Given how superbly comfortable my 981 is on long runs over and above its obvious sports ability, I would be very interested to have an even more comfortable, spacious Porsche as a family car. The Macan appeals enormously.

Don't quite get all the negative comments about it driving like an SUV, ergo not being a "real" Porsche... huh, it is an SUV! It's not pretending to be an alternative to a GT3, it's a completely different proposition from Porsche, and one I like very much.

Pity the price will be too high for my budget...
